Witboek Kraken aangeboden aan de commissie FIBS

Een Rotterdamse raadscommissie en wethouder Karakus (wonen & ruimtelijke ordening) hebben afgelopen woensdag het Witboek Kraken in ontvangst genomen van een kleine delegatie Rotterdamse krakers. De Rotterdamse krakers roepen de gemeente op om nogmaals de leden der Staten-Generaal en het kabinet te adviseren het kraakverbod af te keuren.

squatting under threat (again)

Over the past few years, the growing right wing trend in the Netherlands has led to various mutterings about a law banning squatting. At present, if a building is empty for a year it can be legally squatted. A coalition of three parties – CDA, VVd and ChristenUnie has now put a law before the Dutch Parliament asking for squatting to be criminalised and for squatters to be threatened with a jail sentence of up to two years and eight months.

15 december landelijke kraakaktiedag

On Saturday 15 December there will be a nationwide day in support of squatting. In Rotterdam there will be a Woonstrijd action, an open day at the Poortgebouw, an eetcafe at 62 Zwaerdecroonstraat and a party at the Fabriek. On Friday 14 there will also be music at the Poortgebouw and a film night in support of Oaxaca at Aleidisstraat 103.
