Our Father in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name Thy kingdom come Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

The Pharisees weren't against Jesus healing the man. They were against Jesus healing him on Sabbath. They regarded keeping Sabbath customs as even above healing a man. But Jesus destroys their fake righteousness by revealing that not doing possible good, is evil, even on Sabbath.

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to the man with the withered hand, “Rise & stand in front.” So he did. Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath - to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?” Luke 6:8-9

What God intended for good, humans can degrade to bad. That was what had happened with Sabbath. That is why Jesus explicitly violated quite a few Sabbath customs, thus showing what really mattered on the weekly holiday - worshiping God, doing good, and healing & consoling people.

On a Sabbath, Jesus was in a synagogue teaching, and a man was there with his right hand withered. Pharisees & scribes were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him to see if he would heal on the Sabbath. Luke 6:6-7

Sabbath's original intention was rest given by God, and it was Jesus who gave spiritual rest to mankind by forgiving our sins on the Cross and by gifting us eternal peace of mind by His resurrection. That was why Sabbath shifted to Sunday. Indeed, Jesus is the Lord of everything.

Jesus said to Pharisees, “Haven't you read what David did when hungry? Entering the house of God, he ate the consecrated bread, lawful only for priests to eat, and gave it to friends too. The Son of Man is also Lord of Sabbath.” Luke 6:3-5

What was God's intention behind Sabbath? It was to bless all of us with a day of rest a week, and for that day to be kept for praising God. Jesus restores such original intentions of the Father. That is why He said, "I haven't come to abolish Law or Prophets but to fulfill them."

One Sabbath Jesus was going through grainfields, and his disciples picked some heads of grain, rubbed them in their hands and ate the kernels. Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” Luke 6:1-2

Jesus' message of God's mercy to sinners, through His death on Cross, was so revolutionary that no religious system of that day could hold it without breaking itself down and spoiling His message. He never wanted that. As was said, "Behold, I will do a new thing!" (Isaiah 43:19).

Jesus said "No one pours new wine into old bottles. Or, the new wine will burst the bottles and will be lost. New wine must be poured into new bottles. And none after drinking old wine readily wants the new, as they say ‘The old is better.’” Luke 5:37-39

They expected Jesus to follow their practices, thinking that he was a prophet. But he was the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God. Fitting all their prophecies about him like a glove, but unwilling to compromise the Kingdom of God to patch the holes in their religious practices.
