Time now for a different role within AFL for me, working more closely with Commission, after 20 seasons as media manager. This account will be way less interesting going forward,if in fact it ever was interesting. Go to or from now for day2day news.

So , this grab against my lads at the Bay was 43 years ago today and it ended up in the painting that hangs in our foyer. (No room on the canvas though for the one nearly as good you took at the other end in the same game 🤷‍♂️)

While was kicking badly today with 2.5 in the tight home loss to this afternoon, the renowned high-flyer was at his spectacular aerial best with a pair of remarkable grabs At opposite ends of the ground captured on film.

Just spent a bit of time re-watching some ‘82 highlights after a discussion with and today, but that of course meant I had to yet again watch THE highlight of ‘84.

I had this game at two on my voting list. Criminal it’s at 40. My only consolation is that my picks 1 and 3 are still live into the top 30.

Better stats people than me advise that while Longmire is the youngest AFL player to kick 10+ in a game, Richmond’s Doug Strang was a few months younger when he did it in 1931 (against North). Thanks for the correction if anyone is doing a look-back article.
