Jorma’s still got the blues, and you will too if you join us for this class. Jorma is going back to the deep, blues well that set him on fire as a young musician. From Muddy Waters to Jesse Fuller, he was inspired to find his own voice, and he did with the help of his old Gibson. Drawing from a lifetime of blues excursions, Jorma will take you back to that place and break down some of his most treasured blues songs. This is a fingerstyle class geared toward intermediate and advanced players which will address advanced technique and execution in addition to “just learning the songs.”

Just Announced! Special guest, Steve Kimock joins Hot Tuna Electric at The Town Hall November 29 and 30th, 2019 to celebrate 50 years of Hot Tuna.

Hot Tuna finishes off 2019 with an acoustic duo tour framed by electric holiday shows as a solid power trio with drummer, Justin Guip and one of their favorite guests, Steve Kimock, joins in. Multi-instrumentalist-singer-songwriter Larry Campbell and singer-guitarist Teresa Williams open the acoustic shows.

(USA) “It’s unfathomable how Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady make each show its own experience, but they do … and effortlessly! Guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady are without question among the greatest musicians; each has distinguished himself by developing a style that is easy to pick out and that others often try to imitate.
But more importantly, Kaukonen, 78, and Casady, 75, have over time forged a partnership that’s as vital to their art as raw talent is. The duo use music to speak a language they seemingly invented, yet cannily allow the rest of us in on the exhilarating dialogues.” – ArtFuse

Let the celebration begin! Hot Tuna is marking a HUGE milestone in Rock and Roll History! 50 Years of Hot F#@kin’ Tuna! Not many bands can claim 50 continuous years of touring and making records. So come on out to a show and be part of history.

Hot Tuna with David Bromberg Live In Concert!

Hot Tuna shares the stage with the legendary blues artist, David Bromberg. Bromberg’s guitar work remains a marvel; amped electric lead – both slide and fretted – and delicately powerful acoustic fingerpicking propels songs with the same force that made him the go-to guy for acts ranging from the Eagles to Link Wray to Phoebe Snow. This is a man who can go full-on Chicago gutbucket with “You Don’t Have to Go” (a Bromberg original), then slay with the jazz inflections of Ray Charles’ “A Fool for You,” rendered here intimately solo. Although Bromberg points out he’s not the same guitarist he was before his two decades away from performing and recording. “I play differently,” he says. “I can’t play as fast, but playing slower gives me more time to think about what I’m doing.”

His incredible journey spans five-and-a-half decades, and includes – but is not limited to – adventures with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jerry Garcia, and music and life lessons from seminal blues guitarist Reverend Gary Davis, who claimed the young Bromberg as a son. A musician’s musician, Bromberg’s mastery of several stringed instruments (guitar, fiddle, Dobro, mandolin), and multiple styles is legendary, leading Dr. John to declare him an American icon. In producing John Hartford’s hugely influential Aereo-Plain LP, Bromberg even co-invented a genre: Newgrass.

David will be joined on stage with his long-running road-and-studio band of cohorts: Butch Amiot (bass), Josh Kanusky (drums), Mark Cosgrove (guitar), Nate Grower (fiddle), and Peter Ecklund (cornet).

Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady and Dave Mason are musical creators who were among the first to define Rock. The dynamics of their music feels alive in the present and alive on a continuum from the moment the music percolates in their minds to the time it explodes into theatre. Imagine something bigger and and more dynamic than the obvious, Electric Hot Tuna and Dave Mason in concert!

“I first heard Dave when he played with Traffic during his first USA tour! We have shared a few stages since then and I look forward to this 2019 summer tour to hear his wonderful music and share some stories! ” – Jack Casady.

“We are looking forward to being out on tour with this great double bill. It’s great original live music that sounds as good today as ever.” – Dave Mason

‘It’s more than an honor to be sharing a bill with an artist of Dave Mason’s caliber. What he brings to the table as a musician with his body of work cannot be measured!’ – Jorma Kaukonen
