When asked about recent cases amongst contract staff in hotel quarantine today Andrews suggested it may be community transmission. Maybe it is. But that was the line the government ran for weeks before genomic testing revealed it was guests -> contract staff -> community.

It’s good for parents and kids that primary schools are going back but if I had a kid enrolled at Preston East Primary, I’d probably want to know cleaning staff worked there last week while infectious hey.

Do people still care about school infections? It’s still wild everyone lost their minds about it in March but now it’s like... . There’s been multiple staff working at schools in Melb over the past few months who have tested positive for Covid-19 and none have been disclosed.

Celtics have a great team this year but out of pure vindictiveness I’m happy to see the Heat get this one. Finals are going to rule.

Having an inquiry into hotel quarantine version 1.0 running at the exact same time the government is refusing to give straight answers to new infections in hotel quarantine version 2.0 is some classic political bullshit.

Note that these statistics only include place of birth, so once you include those Sudanese backgrounds who were born in Australia the number is likely to be even higher.

Entirely predictable stuff, defended by most ‘progressives’ on this website.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait people and those born in Sudan made up 10% of those fined in Victoria, despite collectively being less then 1% of the population.https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/sep/28/sudanese-and-aboriginal-people-overrepresented-in-fines-from-victoria-police-during-first-lockdown …

If the kids were from a Muslim school they would have been arrested by now, and we’d likely have seen their names and photos all over the media.https://twitter.com/smh/status/1310336929968381952 …

Abattoir working restrictions being eased is good for the economy but hopefully doesn’t put workers at risk. Any cases amongst workers at abattoirs you haven’t disclosed

The fines never had a logic and were already some of the highest in the world. But if your political strategy is “this happened because people broke the rules” you need to ramp up the law and order approach or you look impotent.https://twitter.com/kishor_nr/status/1310051524874133504 …

Andrews keeps saying “big family gatherings” is what led to the second wave (which most people seem to have swallowed, judging by raindrop etc reactions) but the government also acknowledges 80% of transmission happened in the workplace. Doesn’t really check out.

Jesus, fines increased to $5,000. Thankfully these fines will be levied absolutely equitably and not unfairly target marginalised communities. Daddy VicPol

The next easing of restrictions, pending case numbers, will now be October 19th. One week earlier than foreshadowed. Three week gaps between easing of restrictions. So step after, when retail and restaurants etc open, could be November 9.
