My favorite way to radicalize people is by asking questions. “Rent is going up here 5% a year. Do you receive a 5% raise at work every year to accommodate? What about the rising costs of everything else — gas, bread, insurance?”

My goal is to either have something new or provide (as would say) "proof of lack of concept" and move on. What's deadly is the gridlock of thousands of untested ideas all just sitting on your mental highway turning temporary paralysis into a permanent condition. 2/2

A lot of writers get paralysis because of the opportunity cost of writing one project vs a theoretically "better" project that they *could* be writing and the result is they write nothing. As I get older I'm chipping away at that paralysis. 1/2

Every time Josh Frydenberg scolds politicians about lost jobs I think about how the federal government deliberately forced universities to shed 20,000 of them

And on the flipside... Many Rebel-vs-Establishment stories struggle to explain why 99% of the population accept the status quo. Well, here we are, the 99%. It turns out we do it because we think it's the right thing to do.

Fiction has prepared us badly for current events. Almost our stories of guerrilla rebels fighting the government position them as plucky heroes. In real life, they turn out to be fuckwits making everything worse.

Fantasy is speculative fiction, it's a reflection and inspection of the culture around you. There is magic but there's also taking societal norms, and asking the question, why is it this way, and does it have to be this way? Without speculation, fantasy is merely a commodity

What were the first three you ever played? ...like Kieron, I'm not entirely clear whether I played Dragon Warriors before Paranoia 2E. Come on, it was almost 40 years ago. Still, I think this is probably right.
