The “main railway station” which closed in 2018 (it is now a museum) and which was completed in 1885, was always a somewhat functional and unspectacular affair, something of a shoebox compared with the cavernously grand, architecturally glorious termini to be found in Milan, Helsinki, Budapest or Leipzig.
