Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

IAN DURY & THE BLOCKHEADS / KILBURN & THE HIGH ROADS : The Pub SKA EP

Here's the late, great Ian Dury both with The Blockheads & his previous outfit Kilburn and the High Roads...

For Bud the Wiser... top man!!

THE MONKEES : Head (Soundtrack) 1968

Soundtrack from their 1968 film "Head". Watched this again recently & still enjoy it. I have heard various opinions on the film, including "interesting period piece", "psychadelic whimsy", "nothing like the TV show" and "a load of bollocks". Well worth a watch I reckon...

AMY WINEHOUSE : The Ska EP

THE JAM : Rockpalast (German TV) Dusseldorf 30/11/80

I watched this on DVD rcently & thought a re-post was well over due. Excellent track list & performance, preserved for posterity by our friends @ Rockpalast. There is some confusion over the venue - I've seen both Dusseldorf & Dortmund on different files, cd's & dvd's over the years. though mine says Dusseldorf & I'll stick with that...

THE JAM : Danish TV, 23/4/82.

First of several Jam reposts, as I've had a few requests recently to re - upload some dead links. This stuff sounds as good to me now as it did to the teenage Skamanc back in the day.

Here's their complete live performance from the Spil Op TV show, recorded in Copenghgen, Denamrk in April of 1982.

For all the gang plus Pat... sorry mate - not located their 1982 In Concert yet but will do my best!

LILY ALLEN : The SKA EP

More of a single than an EP really, but a decent collection all the same. A Glastonbury track with Terry & Lynval plus a great B side..

More SKA EP's / singles along these lines to follow SOON, including Jools Holland, Amy Winehouse, No Doubt, Ian Dury & Madonna.

THE MONKEES : Pleasant Valley Sunday (1968)

Like many others, I was saddened earlier this week by the death of Davy Jones, aged 66. The Monkees were s TV staple of Sunday mornings & the school holidays back in the 70s, and I thought they were great. Still a bit of a guilty pleasure really !! Anyway here's a couple of of my favourite tracks....

SOFT MACHINE : Cafe A Go Go, New York, 7/7/71.

Kevin Ayer's final gigs with the Softs have recently been posted, so here's one of the very last dates with Robert Wyatt, New York City's Cafe - a - Go - Go, July 7th 1971.
