The Travis Country Sheriff's office responded to multiple calls of distress from boats on Lake Travis just outside Austin, TX. The boats were participating in a Trump Boat Rally when many reportedly took on water and sank. No injuries have yet to be reported.

Mississippi's Attorney General drops murder charges against Curtis Flowers after he spent over 23 years in prison

Curtis Flowers is now a free man after Mississippi's AG decided to drop all charges related to a quadruple homicide. Flowers had spent nearly 23 years in prison and had been tried six times for the same crime. He always maintained his innocence, and the charges were dropped on Friday after the prosecutor was found to have excluded Black jurors. Flowers gained recent fame in large part due to a popular podcast series that highlighted his case.

Report finds that 93% of Black Lives Matter protests in the US were peaceful

A report produced by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) found that of the 7,750 protests linked to the Black Lives Matter movement that took place in the US between May 26 through August 22, only 220 were not peaceful. The report further states that for those considered "violent," the upheaval was “largely confined to specific blocks, rather than dispersed throughout the city."
