Hi pudgym! I did say in a pub, and the pub is a peculiarly British institution. Having worked in Europe a lot, I do know that the use of 'the pint' is more widespread than I would have thought. Most of the places in Copenhagen that I frequented served pints, but on the other hand I think that if a bar in France dared to serve a pint they would be accused of treason!
