More pay for pollies?

So our politicians have won an extra 3% while the low paid had their wages frozen. (This is on top of various allowance increases which can become salary when not spent.) Now the usual suspects are lining up barking for more pay for pollies – including putative Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce who wants the PM’s salary trebled to $1m a year (and by the way all other politicians’ pay will increase automatically as a consequence). Evidently this will attract the right type of person. What, like merchant bankers? Let them feel our pain. Put them on the average wage.
