    There's a lot to think about in this Bernie postmortem, but the point that I found especially significant (and surprising) was that the Never Trumpers have basically succeeded in bringing conservative wealthy suburbanites into the Democratic fold

    On the one hand, anticommunism is "a form of demonology" that can persist without actual communists because it's immensely useful for representing democratic movements as disloyal, foreign, and existentially threatening
