                    Social media and online marketing

The City of Melbourne has a range of social media channels and online marketing tools that we use to share content about businesses and events in the municipality.

We are always looking for interesting and timely content to publish on our social media channels and What's On.

                    Promotion for sustainable businesses

With over 60 per cent of Australians wanting action on climate change, we are keen to support businesses and events that are making positive changes so we can help create a sustainable future for everyone.

If you offer products, services and experiences which support any of the categories below, we would love to know more. We can spread the word about what you’re doing through our social and online channels to raise awareness with locals and visitors.

                    • Locally made/sourced: Low carbon footprint, low food miles, seasonal produce, Australian products.
                    • Social enterprise or not-for-profit: Driven by a public or community cause, charitable organisation, Indigenous business or B Corporation.
                    • Ethical: Fair trade, child labour-free, living wage, pasture fed, line-caught fish, GMO-free.
                    • Low environmental impact: FSC certified fabrics/paper, organic/chemical free, offering discounts for public transport, carbon neutral business or event (or you use renewable energy), vegan products or menus, meat free options.
                    • Waste Warriors: Discounts for bringing your own cup or lunchbox, no single use bags or straws, recyclers (e.g. using the Degraves Street composter, worm farm users, food rescue practices), selling reusable cups or reusable lunch bowls.
                    • Upcycled, recycled or recyclable products

These categories are a guide – your business might be taking an action that isn’t listed here, but is helping create a sustainable future. If so, please make a submission outlining the sustainable activities you are undertaking. Simply submit your content to be considered for promotion.
