Aboriginal culture, knowledge and heritage will enrich the city’s growth and development.

For the Boon Wurrung, Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri), Taungurong, Dja Dja Wurrung and Wathaurung language groups of the Kulin Nation, Melbourne has always been and will continue to be an important meeting place and location for events of social, educational, sporting and cultural significance.

The outcomes we will work towards in 2017–21

                    • Melbourne acknowledges its Aboriginal history, heritage and identity.
                    • Melbourne fosters understanding about its Aboriginal heritage and culture.
                    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples contribute to the city’s cultural, social and economic life.*

                    * Also a health and wellbeing priority.
