Four young activists, Izzy, Zoom, Roxy, and Fritz, make it their mission to agitate against the decay of democracy. In their travels to New York, Washington DC, and through the heartland, they confront our political frauds and the fools who voted for them. When they become the target of violence in a rural town, they engage the community and find creative and entertaining ways to shake citizens out of their narrow-minded lethargy.
Rats and frauds beware. The activists in this political fairy tale participate in a variety of whimsical events: A figure reminiscent of the Pied Piper entices frauds to march as rats into the Potomac River; an artist paints a portrait of the wannabe dictator and incorporates the hues from a donkey’s ass; and ticks find their way onto the scalps of white nationalists.
The Activists confronts the turmoil in America with satire, bits of magic, drumming, art, rhyming, and political theater. Similar to the Parkland activists and the likes of Greta Thunberg, the novel’s protagonists are passionate about the future and take action. If you want political change, you will find this novel stimulating and amusing.

This is a political fairytale.
They transpose themselves into the past, but are more interested in the present and the future, to shake up, to agitate, politicians. Their aim, during their summer holidays, is to defend democracy. Protect the environment, challenge the status quo. Like Greta Thunberg clones. They are young acitivists. What are they planning?
What happens when a Pied Piper figure, instead of leading rats out of a city, is enticing people to march into the Potomac River? What happens when they take a mini-van to explore the American heartland? What happens when they meet like-minded activists, and how will it end?
Not many people like political satire. This is about political turmoil and the imagination of the author to create likely scenarios to address the ‘current political malaise’ involving the engagement of the new generation of youth. The tone is passionate, but also comical in parts.
THAT TOOK ME TO AN AWARENESS OF HOW WE CAN CHANGE.
The weirdest parts of our current political reality blend with fantastical and whimsical scenes and characters.
It's certainly black and white in it's initial painting of Washington power brokers. Nevertheless it's a relief to be able to imagine and dream of how young creative folks can change the political dialogue in a way that's light and fun.
Thank you Rainier Link!
