Mini Car Leases

Mini's history goes all the way back to 1959 when the Morris Mini-Minor and the Austin Seven first went on sale in the United Kingdom. The brand was responsible for manufacturing a wide range of small cars which also included the Countryman, Moke and Clubman.

After first going on sale in the late 1950s the original two door Mini went on to be developed up until the start of the new millenium and developed legendary status across the world.

In 2000 the New Generation Mini cars were introduced, bringing the small car icon right up to date with 21st century designs and manufacturing techniques.

Why lease a Mini

The original Mini was awarded with "European Car of the Century" award, they were produced by BMC (British Motor Corporation) and they were the first ever production car to incorporate front wheel drive. The Mini has been developed by a number of different manufacturers throughout its history, BMC who launched the car became part of British Motor Holdings in 1996 which then merged with Leyland Motors in 1968. In the 1980s British Leyland was broken up and Mini (which was then part of the Rover group) was acquired by British Aerospace. In 2000 the Rover Group was broken up by BMW, BMW decided to keep hold of the Mini brand and began to put their second generation models into production, reviving the famous brand.
The Mini’s classic design was created by Sir Isaac Issigonis, it was intended as an affordable vehicle in response to the world oil crisis at the time. The space saving layout of the car influenced many car makers for generations afterwards, the Mini is ranked alongside other classic designs like the German Volkswagen Beetle.

Issigonis was highly skilled in designing small vehicles and BMC assigned him with the task of designing a brand new one, there is no doubt now that he designed a superb car which has stood the test of time.

As well as winning "European Car of the Century" the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th Century behind the Ford Model T. Over 700 cars were nominated for the award which the Mini won when the prize was announced on December 18th 1999 in Las Vegas.
