Urthboy is a member of the Aussie hip-hop group the Herd and the first to make a name for himself as a solo artist, with a string of releases to his name that often guest-star fellow members of The Herd and their associated label, Elefant Traks.

Born Tim Levinson, it was his brother who influenced his love of music. The older Levinson went on to be a DJ and co-edit a music magazine, but not before giving his younger brother the gift of a wide-reaching education in eclectic music. The two shared a room and a stereo and the older and bigger of the two brothers had the ultimate say in what they listened to. The first group he joined as Urthboy was Explanetary, formed with Realistix and later incorporating Luke Dubs, Elgusto, and Aja Stuart, who were performing as Funk Injections at the time. At this point the Elefant Traks label was a hobby started by Urthboy and his friends to distribute a party mix-tape, but in 2001 the first proper Explanetary EP, In On the Deal, was released through the label. That same year, the label's owners formed The Herd and released their first album together.

Urthboy spent the next few years focusing on The Herd, with whom he started to work as a producer as well as an MC. The skills and connections he learned there he later brought to bear on Distant Sense of Random Menace, his first solo album, in 2004. He toured the album with old friends Elgusto acting as DJ and The Herd's Ozi Batla as co-MC. 2007's The Signal was produced in record time at Sound Heaven Studios in The Blue Mountains, where Urthboy had gone to school when he was a boy. Presenting a bouncier, less introspective sound than Distant Sense of Random Menace, it was immediately popular and helped him become a name in his own right. Guests on the album included Mia Dyson, Ozi Batla, Hau from Koolism, and The Tongue.

Tallah - "Overconfidence" [Metal & X-Core]

Description : Tallah - Overconfidence [Official Video]

Matriphagy is a concept album about how an overprotective mother pushes her son to the edge of insanity through psychological & physical abuse. Having spent two decades trapped inside a glorified prison, and after some failed rescue/escape attempts, the son, in a state of heavy delirium does the unforgivable to free himself from his mother's wicked hold.

Emerging from Pennsylvania in 2018 and combining the percussive force of second-generation drummer Max Portnoy with the pure, war-torn fury of vocalist and YouTube sensation Justin Bonitz, nu-core quartet TALLAH are on a mission to revamp and modernise the much-loved sound of popular nu-metal sensations of the early 2000s.

Drawing influence from the musical influences of their youth (the likes of Slipknot, Korn and Linkin Park), Tallah fuse the razor-sharp precision of these acts with the raw edges of modern hardcore music displayed by current sensations Code Orange, Vein, Candy and Fire From The Gods.

Having followed Justin’s popular YouTube channel for some time - which boasts perhaps the most popular scream tutorial at approximately 3m views, “How to Scream (10 Different Techniques)” - Max approached Justin to join a new project with guitarist Derrick Scheider and bassist Andrew Cooper, both of whom Max had formed previous relationships with on the Philadelphia music scene.

The resulting explosion of chaos, controversy and metal innovation birthed the band’s first EP, ‘No One Should Read This’, which was recorded at Spin Studios (GOJIRA, LAMB OF GOD) in 2018. Following its release, Max received the Modern Drummer Award for “Best Up and Coming Drummer 2019” and the band performed at Boomtown Festival in the same year.

Tallah’s forthcoming album ‘Matriphagy’ expands upon the concept outlined in ‘No One Should Read This’, armed with a disturbingly graphic tale that is to be taken both literally and metaphorically. Set to a pleasurably harrowing backdrop of brutally heavy musicianship, ‘Matriphagy’ is an unapologetic love-letter to chaos, and the sickening twist of the macabre.

Cut Copy - "Freeze, Melt (Album Stream)" [Pop, Album Streams]

Freeze, Melt (Album Stream)

"Freeze, Melt (Album Stream)" music video by Cut Copy
Added: 21-08-2020
Genre : Pop, Album Streams
Description : Initially crafted during a cold winter spent in Copenhagen by Cut Copy's driving force Dan Whitford, the band's 2020 album Freeze, Melt is their most inward looking and sparsely constructed work to date. Inspired by the chilly sleekness of classic techno and the warm embrace of ambient music, the sound is a drastic left turn from the stadium friendly sound of Haiku from Zero. Where that album was like a clarion call for listeners to lose their stuff on the dancefloor while surrounded by the sweaty masses, this is a record made for listening to alone with a warm mug of something comforting in hand. Whitford and the band strip away almost everything apart from simple drum machines and gleaming synths, leaving ample space for simple melodies and quietly aching vocals. It's nothing like the previous album, and not much like anything they've done before. Songs like "Stop, Horizon" with its long, complicated instrumental build up that bleeds into a lightly pulsing late night disco ballad or "Cold Water," which does feature the kind of bubbling hooks their best songs have, but buries them in subtle drum tracks and interlocking synth patterns, show a healthy amount of ambition and sonic adventurism. Others dial back the scale of the arrangements to something approaching beautifully strark minimalism, especially the slowly evolving "Love is All We Share" or the shimmering ballad "Rain." These songs make an impact by drawing the listener in close and whispering softly instead of bopping them on the head with an ice-covered disco ball like usual. "Breaking Glass" is the only track that sounds like classic Cut Copy and even that song pulls back right when you think it's going to explode into a giant hook. Freeze, Melt is a daring move for the band; they aren't exactly turning their backs on the huge, happy sound that earned them their glittering place in the dance rock firmament, but they do bring their sound down to earth in admirable, emotionally affecting fashion. In the process, they prove that they don't need to make music that's great to dance to in order to make music that's great.
