Nonviolent Peaceforce is a global non-profit organization.  We protect civilians in violent conflicts through unarmed strategies.  We build peace side-by-side with local communities.  We advocate for wider adoption of these approaches to safeguard human lives and dignity.

In Myanmar, Nonviolent Peaceforce is helping local actors to protect civilians and build peace in regions where there’s conflict. Women in particular, are eager to contribute more to their local and national peace process. In 2018, NP trained 450 women leaders on how to monitor ceasefire agreements and advocate for change in their communities.

In 2018, Nonviolent Peaceforce trained 3,786 civilians on unarmed civilian protection, international humanitarian law and human rights in the Philippines. Target groups were stakeholders to the conflict: government, rebel and civilians.

With women and children particularly affected by conflict in South Sudan, Women’s Protection Teams are helping women prevent gender-based violence and participate in peacebuilding and the political processes. The teams encourage women to participate in peace and security efforts affecting their communities. As of November 2019, there are now 2,419 women who form a total of 66 Women's Protection Teams.
