How We Make the World We Want is a seven week webinar starting July 5th that offers strategy and tools for everyday people to participate in making and remaking our democracy. “We are at a defining moment in history when, as the ecology is collapsing, pandemic is raging, and fascism is rising, our societies must design new structures of collaboration and cultivate new ways of being on every scale and in every domain,” explains Danielle Chynoweth, who explains that the webinar is an outgrowth of a book-in-progress she and her co-author Elizabeth Adams expect to publish in 2021. 

DCTV Youth Media is calling NYC students, ages 14-21! This July, crew up for an interactive, hands-on learning experience in filmmaking. As challenging as it is fun, participants take their ideas on a journey from imagination to creation. Pre-production to post-production, students build skills in pitching, camera operation, interviewing, editing, and media literacy. The culminating screening features films in the genres of documentary, narrative, animation, and experimental.

Tehran Children is the true story of Polish-Jewish child refugees who escaped the Nazis and found refuge in Iran. Mikhal Dekel, the daughter of one of these children, spent eight years extensively researching and traveling around the world to write a far-reaching account of Jews who found asylum in Muslim lands. Blending memoir with historical research, Dekel reveals a new Holocaust narrative: “one whose central image is not the concentration camp or the secret hiding place in the attic, but something much more disjointed: the constant fleeing from place to place, the shifting of allegiances and identity.” In this program, Dekel will be joined by Gal Beckerman, journalist and award-winning author of When They Come for Us We’ll Be Gone, for a discussion of the book and this little-known history.

Dining Out For Life is an internationally organized effort and annual tradition.
