Comment added to 78 RPM by GimmeVinyl   Wow.. that recording BigBadBluesMan has on YouTube doesn't sound like my copy at all!! I'll have to look into this. The pressing I own has a faster tempo, and features an electric guitar solo.

Mork & Mindy (1978 - 1982) (1978)
Rated 10/10

If not the best show and my all time favourite, Robin Williams was a true comedian and in Mork & Mindy he showcased his skills of making people laugh, each episode was amazing and well planned out.

Though anything Robin Williams acted in was great work though this is his all time best show.

Queen - Live Killers (1991)

I bought this album on Vinyl when it first came out. It is a very raw recording with no overdubs. What you get is straight from the (presumably) mixing desk, so when Freddie hits a bum note or fails to reach the same note he did during the studio session, you hear it.

(YouTube Video)

I have just bought it again on CD, from my favourite online supplier (no names, but they are named after a South American river!) and what arrived was this version, which appears to be the USA version!

Anyway, on listening again I felt the electricty I had felt when I had seen the band over the years.

My first Queen gig was at the Liverpool Empire where they were what they billed as 'The Crazy Tour' as they were by this time used to playing much larger venues.

Copy of the typical set list on this tour can be seen here:
Crazy Tour Typical Set List

So, back to the CD - what can I say except, it's Queen - the best live band ever!

Sparks - A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip (2020)

It might have been thought impossible for the Mael brothers to have met the standards of 2017's Hippopotamus, but they have not merely succeeded, they have exceeded the quality of that album.

All the Sparks trademarks are there: the varied musical styles and influences (Left Out In The Cold is in a distinctly Latin style, The Existental Threat is based on klezmer); the oblique takes on reality (Stravinksky's Only Hit postulates what would have happened if Igor had decided to write pop songs instead, for example); and the glorious battiness (Lawnmower, Onomato Pia).

But there is a surprising melancholy underpinning many of the tracks Pacific Standard Time being the standout example. Perhaps this is what we can expect from a couple of septuaginarians.

The musicianship and production are excellent, with the brothers clearly knowing who they can bring in to provide tight and dynamic playing.

The outstanding track is iPhone, in which - in turn - Adam, Abraham Lincoln and Mrs Steve Jobs wrestle with the difficulty of trying to communicate with their audiences (Eve, the crowd at Gettysburg and Mr Steve Jobs respectively), hence the chorus, "Put that fucking iPhone down and listen to me!"

Quite possibly Sparks' strongest ever album and a sure-fire classic.

Karin Bloemen - Thuis Ver Van Huis (1997)

"Thuis ver van huis" meaning feeling at home far away from home. Here referring to sick children in hospital or in care facilities far from their family homes, and the Ronald McDonald foundation providing accommodation for their families in the vicinity of where they are being cared for.

The music used on the track is from "This Is My Life" made famous by Shirley Bassey, the Dutch lyrics being very different to the original English ones.

Karin Bloemen - Rijmpjes En Versjes Uit De Oude Doos (2003)

This is a collection of Dutch nursery rhymes from the 'olden days' including some in old Dutch. Most of them probably will not make sense to children in this day and age, some even considered inappropriate in our modern times. It is an interesting glimpse into times gone by though.

This is the first edition as a digibook, there are at least 6 more editions since then in this form. Also released in different kinds of packaging, some with reduced amount of tracks.

Too Hot To Handle (Playgirl After Dark) (1960)
Rated 6/10

Not your avrage Nudie Cutie, this is more a cabarat flick but it still featured women in topless and nearly topless clothing, it's a okay flick if looking for some eye candy.

If you are looking for some good acting and Jayne Mansfield this is a good one too watch but, it does contain some nudity, which is rare for Jayne's films.

Promises..... Promises! (1963)
Rated 6/10

This was cut for the milkdrinkers in the USA however on the web are uncut versions :) a good British Nudie with some good scenes of Jayne.

If you can find the uncut version go for it but avoid the milkdrinker cut version.

However in grindhouse cinema showed women topless in USA, but since this was not shown in grindhouse cinemas it got cut.

Finders Keepers, Lovers Weepers! (1968)
Rated 7/10

Not Sexploitation but very close to it, sadly this one they still were covering up womens below bits and mens bits and the sex scenes were yes naked but all coverd up the stuff we wanted to see was all censored D: when sexploitation starts it has actual sex scenes uncensored for about 30 seconds+ yes it had them but all censored.

However the story was great, i just wish russ decided to do this the non-milkdrinker way like the I am curious series and had uncensored sex scenes my vote would be higher but its still a milkdrinker nudie cutie as there is only nudity and 0 uncensored sex scenes.

Black Sabbath - Heaven And Hell (1980)

This album came out after Black Sabbath had faded somewhat by their standards. The early albums with Ozzie Osbourne were excellent and they had started to go downhill after Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Punk had emerged and black sabbath were now “has beens”. Ronnie James Dio had shown his prowess with Elf and with Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow, making good albums especially Rainbow Rising. Dio was the outstanding Vox of that genre, along with the Riff Master Tony Iommi with Geezer Butler and Bill Ward cut this outstanding record. It was Black Sabbath reborn. Every track on it is a gem which still stands up there today. Like many others, I think I have a top ten best albums (which changes back and forth). There are not many where every track is a gem. “Blue” and “Court and Spark” - “Argus” and “There’s the Rub” – “Fire and Water” – “The Last Puff” - “Marauder” along with “Hemispheres” come to mind where every track is as good as the one before or after it. Heaven and Hell comes into that category.
Punk had had it’s day, Led Zeppelin had finished as had Lynyrd Skynyrd and new “Hard Rock” bands were up and coming, Van Halen, AC/DC, NWBHM etc. but this album was up there with any of those produced by the up and comers.
I’m not saying this is my favourite album – it can be depending on my mood for the day – but it has to be one of my all time favourites.

A film with a lot to live up to...

...And doesn't quite get there.

The final instalment - (spoiler... ah, everyone must know by now!) - in the Unbreakable trilogy, and which has to conclude and deliver on the promise of the second part: Split, which didn't have much expectation but exceeded all such bounds by some distance, so a couple of big cheques to cash in this one...

...And it is by this measure that it trips slightly, a very good movie on any other day, but those two overshadow it, and maybe overthought this one a little, and it lacks a little of the wow factor they had.

The ending is certainly surprising, if more than a little disappointing, but I'll probably get over that with another viewing now I know what to expect.

But a largely good film, if not the great film, the other two seemed to promise.

As a trilogy though, probably among the best in the superhero area you can see, along with Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, and the first two Raimi Spiderman films (third one again, slightly letting the enterprise down).

Terry Pratchett - Eric (1990)

profusely illustrated in full colour by josh kirby, with some full-page pictures, some smaller but nevertheless crossing from one page to the page opposite, and some smaller illustrations wholly within a smaller part of the one page, with text "flowed" to one side or another of them, or wholly above or below them.

the blurb on the back of the book/dust-jacket gives a good indication of what to expect - except terry gives a rincewind's-eye-view of the "adventures" eric gets them into, i.e. dangers that any sane person would run away from at top speed - not approach eagerly (aka "run towards with a total disregard for elemental (or elementary) matters of safety") - and rincewind would sooner start running from now!

a tour-de-force in illustration of this discworld short novel by josh kirby:
don't settle for the text-only p/b or mmpb unless you have no alternative.

John Miles - Concert Tour Programme (1979)

Bandit were the support act and by the third time I saw them I decided to buy their album. Not bad- average would be a fair description. They came across better live than on record (as do lots of groups)
I had seen John Miles before and knew what to expect, and he didn't disappoint giving good performances and setlists of songs that we all know. Excellent.

Cardinal (2017 - Now) (2017)
Rated 9/10

If you enjoy good crime drama such as Fargo and The Killing the this is one for you.

The acting is great, the story-lines compelling and the setting, the vast cold Canadian landscape is wonderful.
