It's a scary prospect for any parent to deal with but one they must take on. There is no guarantee with any transplant. But there is hope. Armed with their faith and love for their child, Rick and Lupe decide to leave their life in Stockton California behind and move into the transplant room with their son, documenting their entire six month ordeal on their home camcorder. With them we feel the highs and lows of the small battles that take place in the transplant halls and isolated hospital rooms. From finding out the initial transplant failed, to finding hope in another option. To seeing the family walk out the of the hospital to a joyous applause from the hospital staff thinking they've made it through, to watching their son teeter on the edge of life and death a few days later because of post-transplant complications not only once but twice.
