The film is a dramatic, action thriller. On one side is the righteous cop Vikram, who believes in a clear demarcation between good and evil and sees things clearly as black and white. To balance him out, on the other side of the spectrum is the mysterious gangster Vedha, who is worldly wise and does not believe anything to be just simple black and white. The movie is the powerful clash between these two ideologies, represented by two powerhouse performers Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathy. The other important characters played by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Kathir, Shraddha Srinath and Prem are part of the intricate plot that intertwines these two spectrums.

Lakshmi (Ditya Bhande) is a young girl who is passionate about dancing. She aspires to win the Pride of India Junior dance competition that happens on a national level but her single mother Nandini (Aishwarya Rajesh) hates the concept of dance for her own reasons. Lakshmi happens to meet Krishna (Prabhu Deva) who runs a cafe near her school. Both get along as Krishna too loves the concept of dance. Lakshmi gets a golden opportunity to take part in a selection process organised by Pride of India 2005 winner Yusuf Khan (Salman Yusuf Khan) but she fails for some reason. Later, it is revealed that Krishna a.k.a. Vijay Krishna is a dancing legend and Krishna-Yusuf Khan are at loggerheads. How Krishna guides Lakshmi to take part in the Pride of India Junior dance competition amidst all these obstacles is the rest of the movie.
