    You're right. I've never had this level of abuse. Emails from fellow professors telling me I'm irresponsible, senile, jumping the gun, a discredit to the University of Oxford, "plain wrong". Also DMs from allies saying they're stopping publicly supporting me as they're exhausted.

    The typical fan mail I get would go along the line of "take your viruses back to China" and "you now want to cause even more harms by forcing us to wear masks"...

    Actually some of them have, but they applied a narrow & inappropriate set of quality criteria - for example ignoring all the stuff on choir practices and performances as super-spreader events because they weren't RCTs. Yet these were v strong evidence of asymptomatic transmission

    Good advice. I can’t speak for Jeremy but this campaign has been uniquely important and unpleasant. Pulling out the stops when so many scientists were briefing against was justified. Many unsung heroes etc

    When you are tired- and you have the courage to say so- wouldn’t you advise your patients in a similar situation to take a recharging rest and breather? Even the best steam engine needs a bit of maintenance..and replenishment... cannot run on fumes alone... we need you..healthy
