On this date in 1976, The 101'ers released their one and only single (while still a band). The A side was "Keys To Your Heart". The B side was "5 Star Rock 'N' Roll Petrol". The group did not release an album while together but a posthumous album called Elgin Avenue Breakdown was released in 1981. The group's last two gigs were in support of The Sex Pistols.
The lead singer/guitarist was Woody Mellor. He would change his name to Joe Strummer when he joined the Clash.

Neither song was included on a regular studio album but "House Of Fun" was included on the 1982 compilation, Complete Madness. The group would place two singles in the top ten later on. When the group broke up, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart formed Eurythmics.

On this date in 1979, The Studio Sweethearts released their one and only single, "I Believe". It was backed with "It Isn't Me". The band was comprised of Mike Rossi and Howard Bates (both ex-Slaughter & The Dogs), Phil Rowland (ex-Eater) and Billy Duffy (ex-Nosebleeds). When the single didn't go anywhere, Mike and Howard reformed Slaughter & The Dogs. Billy Duffy would go on to form Theatre Of hate and, later, join The Cult.
John McGeoch of Magazine would have turned 52 today. He died March 4, 2004. He also was in PIL and Siouxsie and The Banshees.
