On this date in 1982, Nightingales released their second single, "Use Your Loaf". It was backed by "Inside Out" and "Under The Lash". The A side appeared on their debut album, Pigs On Purpose. The two supporting tracks did not but were added to the album as bonus tracks when it was re-released on CD. The Birmingham, England post punk band rose from the ashes of The Prefects, a punk band that included original Nightingales members Robert Lloyd, Paul Apperley, Eamonn Duffy and Joe Crow. Nightingales disbanded in 1986 after three albums and numerous lineup changes. They have reunited and released new material.

He took some time off from music after 1992 but has gotten back to performing. The London new wave musician was a previous member of Bruce Woolley and The Camera Club as well as The Fallout Club prior to his solo career. He also wrote "New Toy" for Lene Lovich.

On this date in 1981, The Boys released their fourth album, Boys Only. It contained the single, "Weekend". The Boys were a London punk/power pop band who released four albums before disbanding in 1982. Of course, their alter-holiday ego, The Yobs, also released an album during this timeframe. The band has done reunion shows over the last few years. Before The Boys, Matt Dangerfield and Casino Steel had played with London SS along with Mick Jones (future Clash), Tony James (future Chelsea, Generation X and Sigue Sigue Sputnik) and Brian James (future The Damned and The Lords Of The New Church).

On this date in 1977, Buzzcocks released their first record, Spiral Scratch. It was a four song EP containing "Breakdown", "Times Up", "Boredom" and "Friends Of Mine". None of the tracks would appear on an album. Lead singer Howard Devoto left the band shortly after its release. Pete Shelley moved to the front and, after a brief time with Garth Davies, brought in Steve Garvey on bass to form the classic lineup which lasted until 1981. The Manchester, England punk band re-formed in 1989. Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle remain from the original lineup. Howard Devoto went on to form Magazine and Luxuria.
