I seriously don’t know what I’d do without the support I get on Patreon. It’s an essential source of stability, and it’s what enables me to write. If you’re a patron of mine, thank you, thank you, forever thank you.

If you create an economy that makes it almost impossible for people to have children, if you provide no support structure for pregnancy, childcare or working parenthood, don’t be surprised if many, many women choose to remain child-free.

When millions of women choose not to have babies, because having babies is expensive, exhausting and life-limiting, the only thing patriarchy can think of doing is to take away women’s choices. But women don’t have any duty to sacrifice themselves. Make the world better.

The world fertility rate is crashing because women don’t want to have babies- because having a baby in a nightmare capitalist patriarchy makes pregnancy and motherhood many times more expensive, exhausting and life-limiting than it needs to be. We are choosing otherwise.

I’m female. The main reason I’m not planning to have a baby is because I’ve seen how my friends who are mothers have struggled, how much bullshit they suffered through, how hugely much harder it is than it needs to be. And I just don’t want a child enough to take that on. Sorry.

I finished working on a portrait of one of my favorite humans . I miss the little pre-covid things, like when we’d sit and ramble while folding laundry.

What, and I can’t stress this enough, the fuck is going on in Portland?!?

Unidentifiable militarized agents are policing Portland, arresting people, and putting them in unmarked vehicles. Just because it left the timeline, doesn’t mean the fight is over. ✊🏿🇺🇸✊🏿🇺🇸✊🏿

People being snobbish and competitive about reading is one of my pettiest of pet peeves. If your relationship to books is a way of impressing other people- or feeling superior- that takes all the joy and fun and transcendence out of reading.

Honestly, what I have is a small pile of books on the floor and an e-reader. I move too often -and read too much- for anything else.

Oh my god. The book-shaming has reached new heights. This picture is apparently controversial because there is a Proper Intellectual Way to arrange books and anyone who disagrees doesn’t really love books. JFC I don’t even have a bookshelf!

What’s happening in Portland right now- armed federal troops rounding up protestors - is the actual, real, pressing Free Speech crisis, and I really hope ‘classical liberals’ have something to say about it.

If I could actually cancel one thing it would be the idea that we ought to have calm, dispassionate discussions of demonstrateably cruel ideas.
