    In the First World War, many troops passed through Southampton, including a contingent of Indian troops, who were stationed in the New Forest 1.3 million Indian soldiers served in the conflict, over 74,000 of them lost their lives ©Southampton Cultural Services

  7. Consultant Surgeon and Major Shlok Balupuri joined the Reserves in 2005 and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. He said: “I performed nearly 260 operations. The Army will make you discover who you truly are & is a responsibility that will stay with you forever.”

    It's Armed Forces Day! Thank you to NHS organisations and members of the Armed Forces community for highlighting the importance of partnership working during the Covid-19 pandemic.

    No full Armed Forces Day parade this year but a 6 person representation from marched the route and laid wreaths at the cenotaph
