    Erskine Activity Centre Veteran Barney Roberts was a Leading Hand in the Royal Navy on VJ Day. Now on the 75th anniversary of the day that peace came to the world he remembers: “I felt great relief and happiness that it was finally over”.

    RN Veteran Albert Lamond was attached to the Pacific Fleet. On 15th August 1945 he was on his way to Japan. Now 75 years later on Victory over Japan Day the Erskine Activity Centre Veteran said: “When news of the surrender came through it was a relief”.

    When, in 1945 the Japanese surrendered Singapore Frank Coyle, then a Royal Marine, was there. Today on the 75th anniversary of Victory over Japan he joins his fellow Veterans in remembering what was a momentous day in the history of the world.
