As COVID-19 infections soar in the US, the White House is planning to re-focus it's messaging on the pandemic, according to a report by NBC News. The message, according to officials, is a recognition by the White House that "the virus is not going away any time soon — and will be around through the November election."

Protesters which temporarily blocked the road to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, ahead of President Trump's Independence Day rally, were dispersed by police and the National Guard. The protest, organised by Native American leaders, condemned the use of the site, which they say was built on sacred tribal land. A planned fireworks display has also drawn criticism due to environmental impacts such as wildfires and water contamination. Fireworks have been banned at the site for over a decade. A small group of protesters who refused to move from the road after several warnings and was arrested without incident.
