Hi Usagi Fans,

Here are some of the more recent updates with Usagi!

Comic News Update:

Since June of 2019, UY is now published in full color by IDW Publishing.
Past issues will be recolored starting with a secondary comic set to release in January 2020 called Usagi Yojimbo Color Classics which will also feature a brand new Chibi Usagi story!
Halloween ComicFest Giveaway. It also features an original Chibi Usagi story you don’t want to miss! Ask your local comic book store about this.
35th anniversary issue #6 will be a retelling and expansion (8 pages to 24) of Stan Sakai’s first Usagi story! This will be accompanied by a handful of variants. Not as many as #1, so it won’t be as overwhelming! Features an INCREDIBLE retailer incentive along with a few surprise collaborative covers.

Graphic Novel and Art Books Update:

Dark Horse is continuing to publish the past b/w version of UY with its final Saga installment set for release in 2020.
Usagi Yojimbo: 35 Years of Covers by Dark Horse is set to release on December 3rd.
Usagi Yojimbo: The Complete Grasscutter Artist Select will be released for purchase (most likely at IDW Limited) soon. Please check Stan’s Instagram or FB for news on the release date. Here’s a peek at the contents posted by Maichan on the UY Dojo.

Usagi Yojimbo TV Show Update:

No official comment on this, but it’s most certainly ongoing! These things take time, so we appreciate your patience. Here’s the initial article.

Usagi Issue #143 Preview Art

Stan Sakai’s latest story for Usagi Yojimbo Issue #143. It’s titled “Kyuri (Cucumbers)” and is about another encounter with the Japanese mythological creature the Kappa. The last story to feature a Kappa in Usagi Yojimbo was around 30 years ago! It was in Usagi issue #6. If you would like to read the first story with a Kappa, please visit the link for an online copy, or visit the store for Book #2 which has the Kappa (yes, we are in stock!). Also, the Special Edition that was just released includes the story as well.

Usagi Yojimbo Website is now International!

I’m pleased to announce that the official Usagi Yojimbo website now has an option to translate the website into multiple languages! This comes at a great time since Stan Sakai, the creator of Usagi Yojimbo is invited to Italy as a guest. Stan will be speaking in Milan and will be at the comic book convention in Lucca. This is the first step towards bringing Usagi Yojimbo readers from around the world together!

Welcome to the Official Usagi Yojimbo Website

Hello Usagi Fans,

My name is Daniel Fujii and I’m pleased to welcome you to the Official Usagi Yojimbo website! Usagi Yojimbo has been a series that I’ve had close to my heart ever since I started reading it when I was six years old. It’s the longest series I’ve ever followed; which says a lot since I’ve read a LOT of Manga as well as American comics. Being a part of this process is a bit surreal and I’d like to thank Stan Sakai for entrusting me with his beloved characters website.

I also wanted to give out a special thanks to Todd Bustillo for creating the original Usagi Yojimbo Dojo using personally crafted HTML. Todd generously spent many hours of volunteer time keeping Usagi Yojimbo current and giving Usagi an official online presence since the early 90’s.

Additionally, I would like to thank the team at Your Design Guys who put this beautiful website together. I gave them a vision/feeling of what I thought the website should look like for the fans, and they executed it perfectly.

There are many exciting things approaching for Usagi Yojimbo! Sorry, no spoilers here, but definitely stay tuned!
