All our love and rage for those fighting at the front lines and carrying the Anti-CAA movement further. Not even a pandemic can bring us down. The right wing troll brigade can try all they want.

5)UAPA doesn't allow the differentiation between nation and government as voices critical of the government are charged with UAPA and the government has unilateral right to declare a person a terrorist under UAPA. Democracy much?

4)UAPA was only meant for terrorist organizations but an amendment made it possible to declare individuals as terrorists under UAPA. This increases scope of misuse.

3)In 2015, 65 of 76 cases in which trials were completed under UAPA ended in acquittal or discharge. On average, 75 percent cases have ended in acquittal/discharge over three years ending 2016 proving it's used as mere intimidating tactic.

2)The UAPA is not meant for convicting people, it is used to detain them, said Mihir Desai, senior counsel at Bombay High Court. "Eventually, acquittals might happen but a considerable amount of time passes by and the person's life is ruined"

UAPA: a thread. UAPA is draconian because it has no expiration, it's ambit is ever expanding and vague, various activists have been booked under it out of political vendetta, it reverses burden of proof. This violates fundamental rights by the constitution.
