WELCOME

Visit Kent’s largest military museum to discover the story of the Royal Engineers and how they have helped the British Army live, move and fight for over 300 years.

With highlights including 25 Victoria Crosses, Wellington’s map of Waterloo, Chard’s weapons from the Zulu War, an amazing collection of bridge laying tanks, Chinese silks, the world’s first guided torpedo, Indian battle axes, a huge piece of the Berlin Wall, Zulu shields, a Harrier Jump Jet and an enormous V2 rocket, it is no surprise that the Museum’s collection has been designated as being of historical and international importance.

Our Learning Team offers a range of cross curricular ‘Inspiring Learning Sessions’ designed to stimulate interest in not only History but STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and beyond. Led by experienced museum education staff, the sessions focus on the Royal Engineers Museum’s varied collections and cater for a variety of age groups and provide a hands-on, multi-sensory experience. The Corps of Royal Engineers motto is Ubique, meaning ‘everywhere’, reflecting the fact that there is no campaign of the British Army in which the Royal Engineers have not played their part. As a result of this rich history, our Museum holds a vastly diverse and historically significant collection. Your learners will have the opportunity to see, discuss and handle original historical objects, and to undertake creative projects.
