    Many of those due to have terms and conditions ripped up are frontline key workers who have been putting their safety at risk to serve the community during the pandemic and this is particularly and disproportionately an assault on BME and women workers.

    Labour councils are elected to defend communities. It’s disgraceful that leaders working safely from home should attack their frontline workers in this way. When the crisis is hitting the working class hardest, COVID shouldn't be used as an excuse to rip up terms and conditions.

    The message now must be unity and solidarity on the Left. Close friends and comrades of mine have both won and lost in these elections but whichever way people voted, let’s now unite and create a culture on the left of respect and co-operation. The challenges we face demand it.

    Really proud to have been part of this successful campaign. There are so many great people who ran for the NCG who I am proud to call my comrade on each slate (and independent). It gives me hope for the future of the Left in a tough time ✊🏾
