Centro Social Okupado Kike Mur
Short url:
After the eviction of the C.S.O. La Vieja Escuela, on Thursday 21 October 2010 we occupied the old prison of Torrero. A building that for 73 years, both in democracy and dictatorship, served the state for kidnapping and torture. Now we open its doors in the form of a free space for all those who want to participate in it.
We want to be a meeting point in the neighborhood of Torrero. A referent where the construction of alternatives is something for all participants and enrich our experiences. We seek to create social awareness, agitation through our actions, demonstrate that things can be done differently, without following the game of the state with its subsidies and free of its mediation, from the base and horizontality as an organizational form.
Torrero prison is yet another case of torture by the Spanish democratic state. Enrique Mur was one of those kidnapped, tortured and finally returned without life to his family and companions, a representative and too common case of all the people who faced, face and will face the repression of the states; through their penitentiary institutions, their reinsertion, their armies and their institutionalized violence.
In homage to all of them.
