Maybe instead of linking your own cashapp, you can link fundraisers/cashapps of black people who are currently unemployed/sick/disabled/single mothers/those who are supporting sick/disabled family members? I don't know how you can accept money from strangers, knowing that there are other black people who are in greater need, especially given the current situation.

For the past month I have been distributing up to 50% of my income amongst bail funds, Black ran mutual aid funds, and independent fundraisers for Black queer and trans folks. I have also been utilizing my platform to encourage donations for these causes as well. That’s almost what I do on a regular day. Even outside of a pandemic and a revolution, I don’t remember the last time I’ve gotten paid without donating to at least one person in need.
That said, with well over 40,000 followers on this blog alone, everything I write or do on here is up for consumption in one way or another. I’ve stopped writing extensively on this site because the minute I post something, it’s already being plagiarized somewhere else. Before the day is up, some white or non-Black person has already made a T-shirt or a sticker out of my writing. I’ve seen celebrities pass off my intellectual property as their own via Twitter. Basically, I’m a Black woman with a reasonable online following and I’ve seen more people profit off of my intellectual property than I would ever even dream of doing for myself.
Ultimately though, it doesn’t really matter what I do on my blog because… it’s mine. I’m a self-employed, full time graduate student pursuing a career in mental health. I’m about to be pushing 40 hours a week in a child / adolescent behavioral health hospital completely unpaid as is required to finish out my degree. Everything I have I work extremely hard for, so don’t ever be presumptuous about someone’s financial state online.
Even if none of this were the case though, I’m still a Black queer woman in America and if I want to post my cash app for any reason at all… I will.
Happy Juneteenth! Cash App a Black woman today
