Kate NV - Plans

Posted by 4 sites • On Bandcamp • Also on: Spotify
Out today on RVNG Intl, the new LP from Moscow-based artist Kate Shilonosova, aka Kate NV, features a "synth-pop palette," per Highclouds, paired with surreal imagery, all "inspired by unlived memories of '70s and '80s Russian culture."

Armand Hammer - Charms feat. KeiyaA

The latest album from New York underground rap veterans Billy Woods and Elucid features guests Earl Sweatshirt, R.A.P. Ferreira, Moor Mother, and others. Contrasting avant-rap trippiness with "a loud, clear delivery and lyrics full of venom," says BrooklynVegan, "Armand Hammer remain in a lane of their own."

Vintage Crop - Gridlock

Melbourne's Vintage Crop are coming up on their third full-length, a split release with labels Upset The Rhythm and Anti-Fade. The lead track is "indicative of the band's tightly coiled punk—muscular, slightly paranoid, and pulsing with an energy that's hard to ignore," says Raven Sings The Blues.

yaya bey - sorry i unfollowed you

Since her debut in 2016, Brooklyn's Yaya Bey has channeled the work of neo-soul songwriters like Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. On her new, politically engaged album, released last week via Elevated, she "eagerly seeks deliverance from bad sex, bad vibes, and the pulsing anxiety of dead-end jobs," per Pitchfork.

RAMZi - coeur dodu

Montreal-based electronic artist and Stack favorite Phoebé Guillemot aka RAMZi (№89) returns with a collection called Cocon, out now on her own FATi Records. "RAMZi's music is always a welcome escape to a cozy, all-enveloping tropical alien world," says Gorilla vs. Bear.

Discovery Zone - Dance II

GOOD MIX
RAMZi's Phoebé Guillemot assumes her DJ alias, Phubu, for a mix of a dub abstractions, lo-fi wave, psych rock, and free jazz on London-based podcast If-Only.
GOOD READ

For Smithsonian's Folklife, Mark Puryear details the history of Rhythm and Blues:

"A distinctly African American music drawing from the deep tributaries of African American expressive culture, it is an amalgam of jump blues, big band swing, gospel, boogie, and blues."

Thanks for listening!
