Anarchist comrade Gabriel Pombo da Silva extradited to Spain from Portugal
Thursday, May 14th, 2020
ESPAÑA: GABRIEL POMBO DA SILVA HA SIDO ENTREGADO AL ESTADO ESPAÑOL
Our comrade has been handed over to the Spanish State this morning (May 13) and is currently in the Badajoz prison (Extremadura). He is well and strong as always. Surely he will have to stay 14 days in a mandatory quarantine and then, supposedly, be transferred to another prison. In that sense, more information will follow.
Even if we have no guarantee that the mail will work regularly, it is obvious that it will not be a virus that is responsible for the fact that the letters of your loved ones and solidarity may not reach him! So it would be better to send registered letters (also as a result of recent problems that occurred in the Porto Judiciary Police jail where Gabriel was able to receive the correspondence only by documented registered shipments).

Porto, Portugal: Words from Gabriel Pombo Da Silva
Sunday, May 10th, 2020
1. EN/ES: Update about the situation of Gabriel Pombo da Silva
Translated from Italian by Act For Freedom Now!
As our comrade Gabriel hasn’t written any official communique so far, these words intend to be precisely a communique/diary and a way of sharing with people and comrades in affinity what he thinks in regard to certain questions.
Gabriel explicitly asked his comrade/partner to select the passages (from letters he sent to her) where he reflects/analyses and/or speculates on interesting issues related to the current situation: «coronavirus» in prison, his judicial situation and the circumstances of his imprisonment.
Gabriel is in good health and spirits and he’s ready for the war he’s expecting in the jails of the Spanish State. In spite of the sentence issued by the Supreme tribunal of Lisbon confirming his consignment to the Spanish State, we still don’t know whether the «authorities» will extradite him without taking into account the «state of emergency» declared following the «Covid-19» «pandemic». As a matter of fact, the «state of emergency» itself (theoretically) is preventing prisoners from being extradited to other countries as long as it lasts.
More information to follow.
Gabriel free!
All free!
Long live anarchy!

ES/EN – Update on anarchist comrade Gabriel Pombo da Silva (Portugal – Spain)
Saturday, March 28th, 2020
(27/03/2020)
We recall that our anarchist comrade Gabriel Pombo Da Silva was arrested in Portugal on January 25th, after a year and half of clandestinity.
During his confinement in the cells of the Porto judicial police station the defense has worked for his immediate release as the law “provides”. But, as we already know, that right is inversely proportional to power and Portugal has clearly demonstrated to be under the power of the Spanish State that wants to completely annihilate our comrade. They haven’t done it after 32 years behind bars, nor with isolation, torture and humiliation of all kinds, how can they think they will do it now!?
Mrs. Mercedes Alcázar Navarro (judge of court number 2 of Girona), in any case, is working hard on it and, for now, thanks to the close and subordinate collaboration of her Portuguese colleagues, has managed to convince the Lisbon Supreme Court to give in to her reasoning.
Today, March 27, we have learned that the aforementioned court has pronounced in favor of Gabriel’s extradition to the Spanish State. In fact that has finally been confirmed to us that this final judgment has been the fruit of the close collaboration of these two countries, and the issuance of the judgment took only 3 days (an appeal was presented by the defense on March 5th, received the following day, then was in the hands of the competent judges on March 23rd, and the sentence signed on March 26th!!!). Porto, Portugal: Update on the situation of our comrade Gabriel Pombo da Silva – EN/ES
Monday, March 2nd, 2020
One month after the arrest of our comrade Gabriel, who was detained on January 25 in Portugal, the Guimaraes court has ruled in favor of extradition to the Spanish state.
This news does not surprise us, considering the active revenge of the Judge Mercedes Navarro of court number 2 of Girona against Gabriel. This Judge is the same one who, in May 2016, ordered the then Dueñas prison director (of Palencia) to hide the order of Gabriel’s immediate release. Gabriel, after 3 weeks of being “kidnapped” finally tasted freedom on June 16 (for this reason the Navarro was denounced for “prevarication”).
During this last month, Navarro has not stopped pressuring Portugal in order to consign “this very dangerous individual”.
We remember that the main objective of the defense is to obtain Gabriel’s freedom under the “special principle” (thanks to which he was released four years ago without it losing legal validity) and, in any case, avoid extradition, given the Portuguese nationality that Gabriel has recently obtained (Portugal should not extradite its own nationalized citizen).
Neither the principle of specialty nor the Portuguese nationality have been taken into consideration by the court of Guimaraes, which has been limited to giving us the reason to later conclude that it must proceed to the extradition (that is, it cannot resist indifferently to the pressure of Mrs. Navarro).
The lawyer is presenting the appeal to the Supreme Court of Lisbon and until this is pronounced (around a week) Gabriel will remain detained by the judicial police of Porto.
We continue to express all our solidarity … And so that it is not left as an empty word!

FREEDOM FOR EVERYONE!!!

¡¡¡GABRIEL LIBRE!!!

EN/ES – Request for financial support for the legal defense of Gabriel Pombo Da Silva (Portugal, Spain, Germany)
Wednesday, February 19th, 2020
Our comrade Gabriel, arrested on January 25 in Portugal, is still locked in the cells of the judiciary of Porto waiting for a possible extradition. The second part of the trial started on 27 January. It still hasn’t begun yet, but it will take place in the next few days. Until we notify otherwise, the contact address for writing letters of support and solidarity to Gabriel remains the same.
Gabriel Pombo Da Silva
EPPJ Porto
Rua Assis Vaz,
109 4200-096 Porto
-Portugal-.
Whilst awaiting more news, his lawyer – who is in solidarity with Gabriel – has anticipated that the amount necessary for the defense will be considerable. You need to rely on and pay punctually those professionals with whom you are obliged to work; and we cannot act without the competing lawyers from Portugal and most likely from Germany.
Therefore, a constant amount of money is urgently needed to manage all the bureaucracy that involves the administrations of justice from three different countries (Spanish State, Germany and Portugal).
Currently the legal situation is as follows:
The Girona prosecutor’s office intends that Gabriel spends another 16 years in jail due to the interpretation of a fusion of non-existent penalties. This denies a special principle (one of the legal reasons why it was possible that Gabriel was released in June 2016), which must be claimed by Germany at the request of Portugal, if optionally, they consider it appropriate.
The extradition order will be frozen while Portugal analyzes the situation, consults Germany about the “special principle” and determines in the situation whether to extradite him or not.
The objective of the defense is the immediate release of Gabriel by recognition of the same “special principle”. If that was not achieved, the objective would be to avoid extradition and serve any supposed outstanding penalty in Portugal, avoiding the harassment that awaits him in the prisons of Spain.
In case of extradition, it would be fought so that this penalty was not fulfilled, applying any redemptions and mergers that until today have not been accounted for, an action that could also be implemented if it met with approval in Portugal.
In any case, you have to work legally so that no prosecution can reopen any previous case and end any possible order of arrest.
At the moment, a bank account has been opened for these purposes, in the name of his partner Elisa, to receive the solidarity contributions by the fastest, most direct and orderly way possible:

Portugal – Italy: Update on Gabriel and repressive news in Italy
Thursday, January 30th, 2020
On Monday, January 27, 2020, the trial against our comrade began on Portuguese soil, the first stage during which the following emerged in summary.
– Portugal has so far accepted the paralysis of extradition to the Spanish state and the defence has about 20 days to add documentation that further supports the importance of non-extradition.
– The defence has immediately challenged the calculation of the residual penalty that the Spanish State claims to apply to our comrade, namely 16 years! Without going into too much legal detail, it can be seen from the documentation justifying this count, that it is a “legal revenge” (but what state revenge is not?).
– For the moment, Gabriel remains detained at the Oporto Judicial Police, waiting to appear before the judge more or less in mid-February. He can receive visits every other day from anyone. He is well and he is strong, combative, determined and ironic as always!
On the same morning of Monday, January 27, the houses of Elisa Di Bernardo’s mother, father, sister and brother-in-law were searched with the aim of seizing computer equipment. The public prosecutor’s office of Brescia issued yet another 270bis [subversive association with purpose of terrorism or subversion of the democratic order] for Elisa and Gabriel accusing them of belonging to a subversive cell with international base and support (the earth shakes, it shakes!). This new (but old, crushed and retracted) repressive wave obviously does not facilitate Gabriel’s legal situation and the regime press of the three countries has already done its duty by exalting the close investigative collaboration between Italy, Spain and Portugal.
To journalists, our historical enemies’ puppets, their duty… to us our revolutionary duty (and let each one call it what he wants, je je).
Updates will follow.

Anarchist Gabriel Pombo Da Silva was arrested in Portugal
Tuesday, January 28th, 2020
The clandestinity of anarchist comrade Gabriel Pombo da Silva has ended
After about a year and a half in hiding, this morning, January 25, 2020, Gabriel Pombo Da Silva was arrested in Portuguese territory. With an international arrest warrant for a residual theoretical sentence of over ten years (a personal vendetta converted into a “legal detail”), Gabriel continued to contribute to the anarchist struggle with his writings.
He is currently locked up in a cell of the judicial police in Porto waiting to appear on Monday in the courtroom where the possible extradition to Spain will be discussed.
Gabriel is well and quite calm in spite of everything.
Updates will follow.

2nd Fair of Subversive Editions
On September 25, 26, and 27, in Lisbon, the 2nd Fair of Subversive Editions will return. We want this to once again be an open space for debate and the exchange of ideas critical of this reality we wish to subvert. We continue to believe that books, magazines, periodicals, zines, music, video, and debates are still important vehicles in the assault on this society that we reject, and in the search for alternatives that free us from the relations of domination it is based on. If you participate in a publishing group, bookstore, distro of subversive and non-party material, we invite you to come and participate.

6th Anarchist Bookfair – Lisbon – 24th, 25th, 26th of May 2013 (Portugal)
Thursday, March 28th, 2013
We’re back!
Here comes the 6th Anarchist Bookfair, which will take place on the 24th, 25th and 26th of May 2013 in Lisbon at the Amigos do Minho (in Intendente), with the every year renovated goal of creating an autonomous space, open to all, for the dissemination and discussion of the anarchist ideas.
In this year’s program of the Bookfair, besides the usual stalls, two debates are scheduled. On one hand, we want to discuss the actuation and limitations of the media industry and its possible alternatives. On the other, we’ll debate the role of libraries as a privileged space for meeting, reflection, discussion and sharing.
It is intended that the Bookfair incentives the edition of books and other anarchist publications and its reading. We continue to believe that anarchy is the alternative to the violence of the state, the arrogance of the capital, the “progress” of the technique and the damages of subservient journalism.

CNT update of 14 November General Strike (Spain, Southern Europe)
Wednesday, November 21st, 2012
From Tarcoteca:
CNT update pickets around the Spanish state. The general trend: fairly quiet day in many cities and fulfilling the goal of stopping the activity in the industrial areas and major markets. Widespread impact of the pickets also in the city centers. Massive demonstrations followed in the afternoon. Anti-repressive alert in Logroño and Granada!

"Tattoo" by Landeg White
Wednesday, November 14th, 2012
This poem is released for the date of the combative November 14 2012 general strike called for the entire southern european area. This is a general strike that has heard a specific call to go beyond simply one day of refusal, towards an entire rejection of the manufactured crisis of capitalism. For insurrection and the destruction of the existent.
(to the sound of Greek bagpipes)
Today, the Greek Government
executed by firing squad
1000 pensioners, along
with 2000 workers, as part
of a package of financial
reforms, to reassure
the markets and permit
the Troika to release one
more tranch of the bail-out.
How one feels for the victims
In all this, the bankers
criminalised, shorn
of bonuses, the markets
bearish, nervous as
kittens, the green back,
the pound, the tsunami
floating yen, scurrying
between time-sealed
vaults and safe-havens,
exposed to the sniping
of credit default swaps
as Molotov cocktails
rain down relentlessly
from Fitch’s, Moody’s,
and S.& P.’s. Will
the friendly Troika
contrive fresh reforms?
Will our young friend,
the euro, be vaporised?
Growth is a must, come
what may, be it 3000
health workers hung,
drawn and quartered,
4000 firemen burned
at the stake, even
the odd politician garrotted.

How George Wright Became a 'Convicted Murderer' Without Having Committed the Crime (USA, Portugal)
Saturday, January 28th, 2012
Written by George Pumphrey, Berlin, Germany.
When news broke that, at the request of the US government, Portugal had arrested George Wright (Jose Luis Jorge dos Santos), a Portuguese citizen, for consideration of his extradition to the United States for having escaped prison, there was an air of the spectacular in the news articles. The accent in many articles was on the arrest of a “convicted murderer,” who had been a fugitive for 40 years.
George Wright had escaped from the Bayside State Prison in Leesburg, N.J., in 1970, where he had served more than seven years of a 15 – 30 year prison sentence for murder. It was also reported – almost in passing – that Wright and four other Afro-Americans had hijacked a Delta Airlines jet from the US to Algeria in 1972 with a ransom of $1 million destined to the foreign section of the Black Panther Party located in Algeria. About the arrest of the Afro-American George Wright, Black Revolutionary (Portugal)
Thursday, December 15th, 2011
325 receives and transmits:
The US-Justice System is Seeking Revenge
This week, on the basis of press agency information, ND (“Neues Deutschland”) reported that a “wanted criminal” – wanted since breaking out of a US prison – had been apprehended in Portugal. George Pumphrey, a US-American with French citizenship, living in Berlin, knows the “criminal” George Wright. Roland Etzel interviewed Pumphrey.
?? Where did you first encounter George Wright?
It was in Paris. I had fled to Paris because of political and racist persecution in my country. George Wright, along with four other Afro-Americans had hijacked a jetliner from the USA to Algeria and later came to Paris. A French underground organization, that aided national liberation movements in the “Third World”, had supported us, which is how we met. (more…)
