Had an excellent talk with H.E. Filipe Nyusi, President of Mozambique on COVID-19 situation. I assured him of India’s continued support to Mozambique, including medical assistance to combat COVID-19.

Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020 approved by the Cabinet will ensure our farmers get greater freedom to engage with processors, wholesalers, large retailers, exporters while also protecting farmers’ interests.

Farming Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020 will pave the way for the creation of One India, One Agriculture Market. There are provisions which increase usage of technology and enable effective dispute resolution mechanisms.

Farming Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020 will nurture an eco-system where farmers as well as traders will have more flexibility. It would ensure barrier-free inter-state, intra-state trade and commerce even outside APMC notified markets.

Amendment to the Essential Commodities Act will ensure better income for farmers. Furthermore, it would mean lesser regulatory influence, greater investment in food processing, cold storages and having modern supply chains.
