During Bengal famine of 1940s, Churchill ordered a lot of Wheat to be exported out of India to take care of UK's WWII needs. When an official noted to him that a lot of Indians are dying here due to famine, Churchill retorted, "Why Gandhi has not died yet ?". Cruel to the core.
