I tweeted a poem today, translated from Irish. A good one I think “The sea will be under the sun like an empty mirror, No boat under sail, no sign of a living sinner And nothing reflected but one golden eagle, the last, On the edge of the world beyond the lonely Blaskets.”

It was a real pleasure to engage with our wonderful community across the mid-West. We have great organisations there & it was uplifting to hear how they are adjusting to their circumstances & moving many of their activities online.

The Irish American Heritage Center in is a marvelous resource for Irish culture in the American mid-West. Like many others, it faces significant challenges at this time. I hope that its Spring Appeal will be a big success and that the Center can continue its great work.

Wonderful to virtually see & hear all of our friends from around the Midwest on how they are supporting their communities. Ambassador aptly summed up that it was an uplifting morning. Despite challenges, we see connection, innovation, generosity, hope.
