This is the gold standard measurement for deaths- the ‘excess death’ figures show the true number of deaths is likely to be far, far higher than official figures. This will be true for every country.

has now overtaken the UK as the 3rd worst in world for confirmed cases. But UK Gov't isn't giving global comparisons any more, as its death toll mounts. And the UK Gov't has again failed to test the promised 100K people a day- weeks of shortfall now.

The British authorities are still failing to give credible figures for deaths from . Gov't says the total's now 35,341. Its stats office says 41,020 where mentioned on death cert. Official excess death figs suggest total is well over 50K. Looks a mess.

Senior British health official warms we may have to live with for years to come. This, in a country where there are very hopeful signs of a vaccine from the Oxford-AstraZenica team, though it’s unlikely to be widely available until 2021 (if successful).

Once again, & for the avoidance of doubt- the UK Gov't is NOT testing 100K people a day. This chart shows under 70K a day. Mailing tests to centers is not doing them, even if it boasts of 133K 'tests'. The numbers continue to undermine public trust when it's desperately needed.

Does this lawmaker mean the deaths of more than 30,000 people from a that wasn’t tackled early enough by their leaders? Or the fact that a man can talk to his Prime Minister in a park? Brits should be proud of one. But certainly not the other.

There might be glimmers of hope in these numbers but it’s hard to get past the main one- nearly 3 million more unemployed last week in the US, nearly 36 million now in total. Horrendous. It will take years to dig out of this, in the US & beyond.
