Headline & intro stoke fear. Only late in the piece do we learn key facts: the released man is now “able to walk several steps at a time but remains on oxygen at a rehabilitation center and needs fusion surgery for his back” & is on electronic monitoring.

Does anybody else see the irony of an Italian community in a neighborhood called *Nonantum* concerned about its cultural survival because of a push to recognize Indigenous People’s day?

What more must we do, ? Prevent face surveillance tracking of our everyday activities in public spaces like schools, libraries and parks; require probable cause warrants; guarantee due process for people fingered by tech that can be inaccurate and biased.

Pass the economic development bill, says the Globe (and include Debt Collection Fairness Act language from the Senate bill, I’d add). If ever there were a time to help people in economic distress and improve systemic equality, it’s now.
