Babies among several killed as gunmen attack maternity ward in Kabul

Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry confirmed that at least 14 people, including mothers, nurses and two newborn babies, were killed after several gunmen stormed a hospital in Kabul on Tuesday morning. Earlier, there was a bombing at a funeral in the east of the country that killed at least 24 people, for which the Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility. However, it is not clear who attacked the hospital in Kabul and the Taliban denied any involvement.

Sullivan ordered a hold on the Justice Department’s motion to drop its case against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, opening the door for any potential challenges to the dismissal. The judge said he would advise third parties on how to submit their briefs to the court "at the appropriate time." Flynn pleaded guilty in 2017 to a felony charge of making false statements to federal authorities.
