New TTB ruling allows American wineries to list "typical" calorie values on wine labels. The option does not require wineries to conduct lab analysis on each bottling.

Three inches overnight! I'd rather have taken that over a four-week period, thank you, but I'm not complaining.

It's been raining hard for two hours, the first significant rain we've had in eight weeks. There are creatures in our yard (rodents, birds) who have never seen rain in their entire lifetimes.

No doubt about it. 's impact on the wine and hospitality industry in Napa County is going to be unprecedented. We're seeing vineyards, wineries, hotels, resorts, vacation rentals, etc damaged, threatened, or lost. Homes take precedence over businesses.

Can't evacuate perhaps due to animals or disabilities or no vehicle etc? We are here to help. If you're in Sonoma County call 2-1-1 for evacuation assistance OR in Napa County call 707-299-1892. People will help you. Better now than later.

I'm working on a long creative nonfiction piece about my wine travels and it feels different and strange and just right, like what I should have been doing all along. Wish me luck. I'm going to need it.
