Mongrel - st EP

Hailing from Galway, Ireland, Mongrel is a new band who released their first ep a few months ago. The ep is available in digital format but didn't see anything about physical copies. The band is connected with the crust punks Subordinate and next month they are going to tour in Scandinavia.
Music wise, Mongrel deliver noisy hardcore punk with distorted, fuzzy guitar sound with crust punk edge and speed changes from fast D-beat to sick and emotional slower parts and desperate  shrieking vocals drown in echo/reverb. Do these sound interesting? Yes, Mongrel manage to deliver some decent noise beyond the formalic stantards, keeping the basics and adding elements to make the whole shit more interesting but the same time keeping the heaviness and intensity. Well done lads!
The ep is available in bandcamp

Subordinate-Respect Existence Or Expect Resistance

Subordinate is a three piece crust project from Enniskillen, Ireland,i posted To See Their Demise ep back in the day and that is followed by Respect Existence Or Expect Resistance. This was recorded at The Hive Studios, mastered by Enormous Door FX and co-released by Chainbreaker Records, Distroy Records, A World We Never Made Records, Don’t Live Like Me Records, and Pumpkin Records. The record is lenghty, each songs lasts 5, 7 or even 15 minutes, music wise the band delivers neo crust with melodic mournful guitar lines, there are some acoustic intros, screamed/yelled and death metal metal deep low throaty vocals that both fit nicely and the usual D-beat drumming. Lyrics can be found in bandcamp., artwork by Costin Chioreanu. Overall this is a decent release for fans of of From Ashes Rise, Madame Germen, Ictus and the likes,, this is available in band's bandcamp and in some label's bandcamp as well. The band was on European tour this month (September '15), apologies to the band for the delay to post it

Burnchurch-st lp

Now here is something really interesting:  Burnchurch is a new Dublin based band with ex/current members of Easpa Measa, Rat's Blood and Silence (from Poland) playing incredibly intense & melodic HC/Crust. Great guitar riffs, driving Basslines, D-beatish, forward drumming and Clodagh's remarkable voice. Reminding me in times of bands such as Preying Hands, Ballast, Unhinged, Garmonbozia and alike .... Those who know these bands, will love it - all others need to check it out!!! So powerful and convincing, it doesn't even need fancy shit like limited editions - just 500 black vinyls wrapped in thick gatefold cover. And dont forge the awesome artwork done by Sean Fitzgearld, the gatefold cover reveals the artwork at its greatness when open it (here), Brilliant! This is available in bandcamp along with the lyrics. The record is a co-release of several labels:Contraszt! Records, Dogs and Vultures Up the Punx and Trujaca Fala,

Disguise-System shock 7"

Disguise come from Dublin, Ireland, they are a raw punk D-beat band with members of Crowd Control, Strong Boys, Contort, Zom and others and this is their first release after the Demo 2012. System shock comes on seven inch format and delivers seven tracks of raging and relentless d-beat/raw punk in the vein of Electric Funeral, Paranoid, Disclose, Dispose, Execute etc with ultra distorted guitars, shouted powerful vocals full of reverb and echoes and D-beat drumming . This is chaotic and out of control noise punk and very similar to Komplott, Silent Order and Life Chain. This is awesome! I hope their next release, Signs of the Future will come out soon. The record was released by Milk Run Records in 500 yellow copies

Okus-st cd

Okus hail from Drogheda, Ireland and this is their debute lp, released in 2013 by Underground Movement Records, they are a new band but members were in several bands such as The Dagda, Bleeding Rectum,  Sodb,  Two Tales Of Woe, Scavenger and Fuckhammer. Their eponymous cd consists of seven songs and nearly 30 minnutes of crust heavily influenced by death metal, doom and grindcore: Imagine the gloomy guitar sound of The Dagda into more metallic territories and the death metal sound of Entombed and At The Gates,  add some heavy pummeling bass, hard pounding drums with D-beat and blasts and rough vocals. The whole thing is dark and haunting as the songs run in fast pace, sometimes in crust/hardcore paths and then start raging in grinding parts or slowing down the beat into doomy breaks reminiscent Grief and such bands (check Born in Chains which is a doom/sludge song). Sound wise, everything is perfect. Somehow and in some way it reflects the Ireland's reality today, the same way Lethe's blackened crust does for Greece. Recorded and mixed at Dead Dog Studios by Johnny Kerr, Undergound Movement released this sonic hell in summer of '13 and it comes with great and haunting artwork (which fits with the music) done by Sean Fitzerald (Profane Existence, Cvlt Nation etc, etc). This is available in bandcamp (i wish lyrics were there too) and from Underground Movement. All and all this is a great debute and there is nothing to complain about. I wish to hear more by them

Rats Blood-8 track demo (tape 2012)

Rats Blood hail from Dublin, Ireland, they formed in 2011-12 and include members of Putrefaction and Contort, this eight track tape is their first release, it came out sometime in 2012. They had a tour in Europe in summer '13, in Spain, France and Switzerland, right after the release of their Punks is Mutants 7"  by Distroy Records. The 8 track comes in red cassette including lyrics and liner notes in the inlay of cover  and delivers relentless raw hardcore: Rough shouted vocals drown in reverb and echoes, fast bashing drums and catchy bass lines and guitar riffs, all create a sonic hell reminding the Swedish hardcore of Totalitar and Avskum. Considering the past of members in other bands, this is completely different to the crust of Putrefaction and Contort's noize, actually the only simillarity is the reverb'ed and echo'ed vocals that sounds the same as Contort's singer (is this the same guy?). The recording has an old school sound as if it were recorded sometime in '80's. The tape was co-released by the Dublin based Deathbiter and Headwrecker Records from London and run by an Irish guy. Overall this is wrathful, aggressive and angry scandi-hardcore, "pissed off with the murky doldrums that Ireland is in right now, with searing diatribes making up the lyrics and harsh but true messages to be found scrawled on the tape’s liner notes about Irish culture and society" (from Cvlt Nation),  in the vein of Avskum, early Anti Cimex and Totalitar. Give it a listening in bandcamp.

Gaze-Demo tape 2013

This is female fronted noise punk: Gaze is a quartet from Dublin, Ireland and this is their demo tape, recorded in October 2013 and released by Dogs and Vultures a Dublin based, DIY punk distro. Gaze seem to be a fresh new band, never heard about them before and this cassette is their first relase. Anyway their demo comes on pro-printed green tapes, it was recorded in Octomber 2013 at Hellcrust Road House, Sandyford and delivers seven songs of  raw noise punk full of distortion and energy. The girl who sings reminds a combination of Saira (of Detestation, Resolve, Faggot and others) and Janick from After the Bombs, or for better description i could say she sounds simillar to the vocalist of Canadian's Life Chain (i ll post their demo soon), as she screams in reverb and echoes and takes the chaos one step beyond. Guitar sound is rough and distorted and has a punky feeling helped by the fast yet steady pace of drumming which avoids frantic ways of hyperspeed, of course there is D-beat driven  force in rhythm section and bass is full of distortion too. This is extreme and chaotic, raw and angry. The cover artwork may look strange at first look without the usual black n white raw dis artwork but when it unfolds  you will see the eyes of a human face, (check it here), really nice and interesting. The cassete is still available via Dogs and Vultures, (dogsandvulturesdistro(at)gmail(dot)com) or Distroy and probably elsewhere. This is also on bandcamp. Ghandi, thanx for the links, cheers and best wishes!

Bloody Ear-Fear is for prey

Now here is something different, not musically since this is a piece of noise but considering the age of members, Bloody Ear claims a place is Guinnes Word Records as the youngest crust/stenchcore/ punk whatever band ever. So back off all you tatoo'ed, dreadlock'ed and with spickey jackets and torn pants full of patches crusties because here come Putrefuction and Róa (Rowan) in the age of 6 and 8 years young: Bloody Ear is a duet with these two kids in guitars and vocals and their dad, badly bashing the drums. And before you say anything just sit down and think what crust related thing you did while being in the age of 6 or 8, probably nothing ok?  Fear is for Prey is one song demo, the kids wrote and played the song themselves and did the artwork on here. The line is from a cartoon and their names in the band were picked by them from albums lying around the house. This is not Motion Device (they are aged and commercial), this is not Forced Isolation (they were over 12 years when they started), this is the real noise deal and totally DIY 100%. Congruts kids! Thumps up and smiles to you! Best wishes and hope to listen new songs from you very soon! The dad behind the drums set is Sean from Protest Zine and also artist, illustrator and columnist in Profane Existence and Cvlt Nation. (thanx for sending this!). Now seriously, it is nice and really great to see kids growning up away from the usual stereotypes and conformities that prepare them as another gear in system machine, away from consumerism and other conservative crap. Anyway, i rant enough, the song is available in bandcamp, get it.

Contort-Endless myopic bastards tape 2011

Endless Myopic Bastards is the second tape of Irish punx Contort, recorded and released in 2011 by Distroy and Headwrecker delivering the same raging noise as they did in An Island of Noise In An Island of Silence. 300 green cassette copies were made and packaged in a nice looking plastic box and the double sided fold out lyric insert you see here and secured with a screen printed wrap around. Music wise it brings seventeen minutes of GAI, Confuse and Gloom influenced noise raw punk and to coin Chris of Agitate zine "..the reverbed vocals..reminding me of 'Perdition' era Disorder", so you know what you get here. Easpa Measa-Renounce and dethrone [2004]

Powerful male/female fronted crust band from Dublin, Ireland: Easpa Measa (roughly translated "Lack Of Respect" in Irish) formed around 2001/02 and this is their demo, released as cd in 2004. Their discography is the s/t cd (2002, GZ Records), the "Renounce and dethrone" demo cdr (recorded and selfreleased in 2004, one year later it was released by Impregnate Noise Laboratories from Czech Republic on tape format), the split 7" w/ Atomventigger from Scotland (2004, Holy Records), the split 7" w Nemetona from Japan (not any relation with the black metal band from Germany with the same name) in 2005 on Acclaim Records and the split 12" with Silence from Poland (Acclaim & Sadness of Noise Rec.s). A split with the Irish crusties Division Ruin is on the way.
"Renounce and dethrone" delivers six tracks and delivers 23 minutes of crusty flavored hardcore with dual male/female vocals. According to their site (some nice reviews there) some copies are still available from the band and it was going to come out on vinyl sometime in 2008 as a split release between the distro/label Humildad y Honestidad a label from Spain and Contraszt Records( involved with some great records such as Massmord/Shades of Grey-spit, Asedio's El ultimo invierno lp or the Fall of Effrafa/Down with Agony split lp), obviously some delay happened..
