Kolonaki SS - Tape 2019

Named after a wealthy and upmarket district in Athens, that is synonymous with the local financial elite, Kolonaki SS unleashed raw punk chaos with their 7 track cassette in 2019. The band follows the tradition of other local groups and hasn't any site or social media page so they are a short of mystery, their debut was a cassette in 2017 and this one is their second release. The cassette lasts 11:15" and brings chaotic raw punk "in the vein of Chaos U.K and Headcleaners put through a Violent Party Records filter machine. " (quote is from here).

Skürnaa - Demo tape 2019

D-Beat Crust from Thessaloniki, Greece: Skürnaa (i have no idea what their name means) formed  in 2018 or 17, they played several gigs and recently uploaded their first demo cassette in Youtube. The cassette will come out in a month or so and following the "tradition" of other greek bands (Dishönor, PissSniffers, Kolonaki SS, Βähallä), Skürnaa haven't any band page or social media or whatever.
The demo cassette consists of 12 tracks (including the eponymous microsong that lasts only a few seconds) and 15 minutes of D-beat with crust flavor on guitar, rough vocals in greek language, the usual fast and sometimes faster D-beat and decent sound quality. Everything is well placed in the mix and the band delivers the D-Beat goods.
The drummer also plays in Dishönor., the cover artwork was made by Khaos Art. The demo will come out soon, i hope to hear news for more recordings from them

Dishönor - st tape

Dishönor come from Thessaloniki, Greece and this is their first recording, currently only in youtube. There's a veil of mystery since there is not any site and social media page connected with the band,(some Dishonor in faceboook is another band), there's only a youtube video of their recording and the information the band will self-release a cassette soon. The band played several gigs in Greece and their drummer also plays in D-beaters Skürnaa, who's demo tape just came out
Music wise Dishönor deliver D-beat Crust with '90's flavor and gruff vocals, reminiscent of bands such as Doom, Hiatus, Embittered, Visions of War etc, etc. There are 10 songs and 23 minutes of cavemen crust in the usual fast pace with some slower breaks here and there and decent sound quality. There are the typical for the genre guitar riffs and rough vocals, the singer sings in english and lyrics deal with the usual themes as titles proove (Coldness of a Nuclear Age, Neverending Bombraid, Savageries of War etc).  Cover artwork was made by Khaos Art who also did covers for Infernal Attack, Dogs48, ALS, Apnoia and others
All and all, this is an amazing piece of D-beat crust, the band delivers the goods and its worth to give it a listening. Cassette comes out soon (i hope).

PissSniffers - Demo 2019

Chaotic and primitive D-beat Raw Punk from Athens,Greece: PissSniffers is a new band formed by members of Discordance and Kolonaki SS. Their demo was recorded in August 2019 and delivers six tracks (incl. a Anti Cimex cover) of distorted raw punk with a singer vomiting his hungs drawn in reverb. Total running time 8:30. Last Rites-st lp

Crust punk with strong influences from the Swedish scene: Last Rites formed in Athens Greece in 2017 (i think) and recorded 10 tracks for this lp, these songs were available in bandcamp since December 2017 and a limited to only 50 copies promo cd with 2 tracks was released by Terminal Records. The record took so much time to come out and finally came to light in March 2019 in 250 copies of transparent red vinyl. Co-released by Terminal Records and Stand Against Vivisection, it includes insert with lyrics. Musice wise the band delivers nearly 30 minutes and 10 tracks of crusty Swedish hardcore, melodic yet epic and aggressive, reminding of Wolfpack, The record is available from both labels and also in  bandcamp

This is pure Finnish punk worship at its finest and comes from Greece: Konnepistooli are going to release their first vinyl on Terminal Records and the label unploaded the greek version both versions of songs in bandcamp, same tracks sung in Greek and in Finnish language. The band delivers excellent Finnish punk in the vein of Rattus, Kaaos and the likes, ast and catchy hardcore punk full of energy, This is the first release of Konepistooli after their demo from 2016. A first taste of whats coming was this Rattus cover a few months ago.
Terminal Records has some other great releases worth to check(in digital format at the moment) such as Trapdoor, Last Rites, etc

Sordid Dogs-Necropunk

Sordid Dogs hail from Greece, they are a Blackened D-beat Punk band, they were formed in 2017 and Necropunk is their debut ep, released by Chainsaw Distro as cassette and Auto Recordings as cdr in 2018. members are/were in black metallers Human Serpent and Isolert.
Necropunk was recorded during November 2017-February 2018 and was mixed and mastered by the band, it delivers five tracks including one Hellhammer cover and incorporates the old school D-beat and crust punk with the first wave of black metal (Venom, Hellhammer, etc): D-beat drums, old school sound, simplistic and catchy riffs and all these blended with the haunting dark feeling and grim spirit of Hellhammer and early Venom while tthe throaty shouts of singer fit nicely. Hellhammer's cover is nicely covered and its the closing track of ep that lasts thirteen minutes
Overall, Necropunk is a honest and nice effort of old school/blackened D-beat punk and lacks nothing that could make it sound shit. Not something you haven't listened before but surely an enjoyable release with its energy,power and memorable guitar works. Tape version available from Chainsaw Distro also for streaming in bandcamp, cdr is sold out. The band has also two split tapes under the belt, one with Besthoven (soon out on Chainsaw Distro) and one with Abigail, covering with this way the spectrum of their influences, from D-beat punk to black thrash metal. Konepistooli-Περιορισμένος Πυρηνικός Πόλεμος (Limited Nuclear War)

Konepistooli come from Greece, their names come from a finnish submachine gun and their music is heavily influenced by the finnish punk scene of 80s: Περιορισμένος Πυρηνικός Πόλεμος (Limited Nuclear War) is their second recording, it will come out as vinyl and cassette, here we got a promo, it is two versions of Rajoitettu Ydinsota, Rattus cover, actually the only thing that changes is the lyrics:  the vocalist sings in greek and in finnish, Currently in digital format in Terminal Records bandcamp, the vinyl and cassette releases will come out soon.

Under the Sun-demo 2018

Under the Sun is a new project from Greece but the members carry a history in greek scene since '90's  in bands such as Forgotten Prophecy and Industrial Suicide and later in Tantalum, Hellstorm and others and with such experienced guys, what they bring can not be bad: The demo consists of four songs and delivers D-beat Crust with old school flavor, total running time is nearly twelve minutes. This is currently available in bandcamp and youtube.

Succubus-st

Succubus hail from Athens, Greece and this is their first work cuurently available only in bandcamp,  they are a crust/blackened crust band with melodic parts and committed to DIY ethics and as they say they are "against religions, cruelty to animals ,fascism, sexism ,child abuse,domestic violence". The recording is lengthy since lasts nearly 22 minutes and music wise it ballances between modern crust and blackened crust with black metal  influences entering in their crust and create a dark and malevolent result while the melodic passages make the whole thing even better. The vocals are rough  and come from the modern crust territory, the singer sings in greek language and in english as well. There's no any sign of physical release, i.hope to see it on vinyl or whatever

Άπνοια-Θρίαμβος του Μίσους (tape)

Άπνοια (Apnea) come from Kozani,Greece and Θρίαμβος του Μίσους (Triumph of hate) is their  third release after Ωδή στο Χάος (Ode to chaos) tape/cd and the split tape with Besthoven. Θρίαμβος του Μίσους is released by Extreme Earslaughter Records (Punk,Metal,Grind label based in Athens, Greece) in pro-tape limited to 100 copies. Following the same path as their previous works, the band delivers D-beat punk at its finest level, they get better and better in their releases, this is the one i like the most. 25 minutes and nine songs of fast D-beat driven hardcore punk with the exception of track #6 Διχόνοια (Discord)  which is slower and emotional before the outbreak in the final part. Excellent cassette! this is also avalable in bandcamp along with rest releases, hope to see them one day on vinyl.

Doomed Again/Sarkast-Doomed Sarkast split tape (Desorden, 2017)

Doomed Sarkast is a split of Doomed Again from Greece and Sarkast from Germany, it comes in cassette format and is released by Desörden. Doomed Again are not new here since i have posted their previous works , this split is their fifth release and they just announced the recording of new tracks for an aupcoming ep titled "D-Beat the Bastards". For those who are not familiar with the band, Doomed Again was formed by people who carry a history in noisy, grinding acts such as Head Cleaner, Slaughtergrave, Homo Iratus etc and they deliver old school D-Beat coming straight from the 80's. Here they contribute three tracks and they deliver the goods without reinventing the wheel. Old school worship without the grinding hnts of their early relases. Sarkast come from Bremen, Germoney, birthplace of Carol, Acme, Acid rain Dance etc they are a crust/powerviolence band, and they recently released their first lp, De-Genaration  Here, they offer four songs of crusty powerviolence/hardcore with fast beat and rough shouted vocals. The cassette came out after a long long delay, it includes lyrics and comes in quality shell/cover, well done Mike Desörden! Total running time 11:40".

Devious Instinct/Slaktgrav-Neverending War split cdr

This is a split cdr with two bands coming from Greece, Devious Instinct is one man band from Thessaloniki, formed by a guy who also plays/played in Thrinos Aenaos and Noireblood and deliver four tracks of black metallic punk n roll in the vein of Tiger Junkies, Carpathian Forset, Aura Noir, Satyricon and the likes, There are acid shrieking vocals, D-beat drums, some great ideas in guitar work and the sound quality is decent, the lack of this shitty reverb in drum sound would make things excellent but even the way the whole thing came out is worth enough to respect it. Birthtumor is my fav track here. Slaktgrav is the transformation of mincecore freaks Slaughtergrave into a D-beat band, they formed in 2012 and they have several releases under their belt (check here), they appeared in this blog for the Freedom Punker 4 way split, many moons ago. Here they contribute four tracks taken from older recordings and deliver Swedish D-beat hardcore, song titles and lyrics are in Swedish. The split came out as cdr in thin plastic case with great arwork from Jef (Unfit Scum, Helvetin Viemarit) in 50 copies (i think) by  Deathforce Records and nearly twenty minutes total running time.  Give it a listening in youtube

Ψύχωση-st lp

This is the absolut Amebix worship from a crust band coming from Greece: "Ψύχωση (Psychosis) were formed in 1993 and played excellent crust punk following the footsteps of 'Chaotic End' and 'Forgotten Prophecy'. Numerous live sets in Villa Amalias and almost every self-organized place of the era. They participated in the compilation "Disturbing Domestic Peace" while they released a demo in 1994 (Η Ταφή της Οργής (Burial of Wrath) demo tape, listen it here). During the years 1996 and 1997, eight tracks were recorded for their first album aiming to release it on vinyl but unfortunately never happened. In 1998 they played their last live set and dissolved afterwards. Thanks to the cooperation and persistence of Scarecrow Records and Nikos from Labyrinth Of Thoughts, after 18 years this long lost gem will be released on vinyl in September 2015. With new mastering and 4 page insert with lyrics and posters of the bands live sets." Limited to 350 copies and more than 35 (!) minutes total running time. Discorpse-The war years

Straight from behind the mask of Warcorpse,here we got 'The war years' from Discorpse. Discorpse is the same guy from the 'one man d-beat machinery' Warcorpse evolving into more dirty and brutal noise. I think i can say that, all of you noise freaks will know what Discorpse is all about just even when you see the cover art. Want it simple? want it noisy? want it raw? Then this is just for you. There are no surprices here, no missleads, no long intros and endings, no nothing. If you expect anything else but d-beat storm you wont get it. This is full 19 mins of pure crusty d-beat raw punk. Doing homage to Doom, Discharge, Disclose and the rest of the d-beat/crust war legions, this whole album is sharing pure and sincere passion for d-beat and noise. If you like modern punk then this is not the sound for you, but if your into old raw sound this is the right deal. (Alex)

Disarmy-The path of war

First post of this year is a new D-beat band from Greece and Macedonia, Disarmy include members of Disease, Dissected, Doomed Again and Teknokrater and The path of war is their first release, currently available in bandcamp and soon out as promo cd. Members of Dissected, Doomed Again and Teknokrater formed Ηχητική Ναυτία (Sonic nausea) but here they let aside the chaotic noise core and deliver pure D-beat coming straight from the 80's: The path of war brings five tracks and nearly nine minutes of midpaced D-beat punk, there is no any reinventing of wheel here, this is the typical punk delivered by the Discharge worshipers during the last decades, simple and minimalistic three chord riffs and following basslines, raw sound full of distortion, the lyrics are the usual anti-war themed and the shouted vocals by the guy from Disease, the sound quality is the appropriate for the genre and delivers the raw filth and...this is it. You love D-beat noise? then go for it, This will come out as promo cdr soon (there's no site or whatever, just a bandcamp page where you can listen/download it for free. Ηχητική Ναυτία-Προταγωνιστές τραγωδίας & Ισοπεδοτική καθημερινότητα

Ηχητική Ναυτία (Ihitiki naftia, sonic nausea) come from Greece and include members of Doomed Again, Dissected and Teknokrater, Προταγωνιστές τραγωδίας (Cast of tragedy) is their first cdr, self-released a few months ago and delivers 8 pieces of noise: Dissected and Teknokrater are noize not music grindcore bands with a Sore Thoat we-don't-carewe-don't-give-a-fuck attitude  and here they meet the D-beat punk of Doomed Again and bring a shit of noise punk: The 8 titles include samples for the intro and outro plus some micro-songs of a few seconds each, what  the band can deliver is revealed in songs such as Καταδικασμένοι and Νεκρή Ελπίδα: Pure noise grinding punk with cacophonous echoed vocals, distorted bass, guitar full of reverb and distortion and some D-beat shit, no blast beats and 1000 bpm.  Ισοπεδοτική καθημερινότητα (demolishing daily life) came out a few weeks ago and continues in the same vein of noise, there are some good moments with songs such as Με φλεβες σπασμενες, Skitliv and Πατριδολαγνοι, the usual micro-songs are here again and the cdr ends with a smart sample about the pseudo-leftist greek prime minister. All and all these cdr's are for noise freaks who love to damage their ear drums. Said enough

Doomed Again/Warcorpse-Doomed to war cd

Doomed to war is a split with two greek bands, Doomed Again and Warcorpse: This is the fourth release for Doomed Again, here they deliver three tracks of old school D-beat in the vein of the Decay tape with catchy guitar riffs, mid paced D drumming, shouted vocals and nice lyrics, these guys do not need frantic beat and overdistorted guitars to deliver the goods, hope to hear more by them and to see them releasing a full lenght. Warcorpse is one man D-beat band who recently released a split 7" with Disease,  here he contributes three pieces of old school D-beat  incl. Doom's Police bastard,  the cdr (actuallly this is digi vinyl, a cd that looks like vinyl record) came out in 70 copies and includes lyrics and the usual special thanx, the artwork was contributed by Alex from Disease, Available in youtube and for streaming in bandcamp

Doomed Again-Decay tape 2015

First post of the year is a D-beat blast: Decay is the third release by Doomed Again from Thessaloniki, Greece, i have posted their Democracy R.I.P. cd and split 7 with Παροξυσμός so there is no need for introduction, Decay comes as cassette and consists of seven tracks of pure D-beat worship of '80's, the previous releases were a blending of D-beat with hints of metal in guitar sound and Napalm Death's Barney sound-alike vocals but here they dive back into the 80's and deliver pure D-beat.The last song has this thrashy riff and faster drum pace, is this a sign of what  we should expect in the future? Decay will come out in February by Clean Head Productions in only 50 copies and is already available in bandcamp
