Why lease a Honda
The Japanese company Honda released their first sports car, the Honda S500, in 1963. Until this point the company was best known for its manufacturing of motorcycles and internal combustion engines. The company was originally founded in 1948 by Soichiro Honda, who after the War found he couldn't use his car and came up with the idea of attaching a small engine to his bicycle - by 1964 Honda had become the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles.
With Honda's knowledge for engineering his attention soon turned to cars. The S500 sports car possessed a high-tech engine developed from the company's motorcycles - the intensity of the engine meant the car would've made a great Formula One car.
Due to the knowledge Honda posses they have been developing experimental ideas not only for cars and motorcycles but also for generators, marine engines and the famous Assimo Robot. In recent years Honda have focussed their attention on creating environmentally friendly vehicles - in fact five of Honda's cars have made it on to EPA's top ten fuel-efficient cars. These cars have included the 1986-87 Honda Civic Coupe HF, the 2000-2006 Honda Insight and the 2006 Honda Civic. In more recent years Honda have spent time researching and manufacturing hybrid and electric models.
The Honda Insight was a breakthrough and the first Honda car to feature the Integrated Motor Assist system - when it was released it quickly became the most fuel-efficient car in the world. Since then, this technology has been used on a range of other cars including the Honda Accord Hybrid and the Honda Civic Hybrid. In 2008 the Honda FCX Clarity was released which used hydrogen fuel cell technology to combine oxygen with hydrogen and generate electricity. Over the years Honda have proven to be pioneers of fuel-efficient engines and it will be interesting to see what they come up with next.
