The 2020 Detroit motor show – which had been moved from the US winter in January to summer in June from this year – has been cancelled so the massive exhibition centre can be used as a field hospital. Health authorities in Detroit will bring 900 hospital beds into what was going to be the motor show display area to help manage the expected increased in patients being treated for COVID-19.

Munich has won its bid to host the German leg of the international motor show roster, beating out Berlin and Hamburg for the honours. The decision comes after a decision by the German Association of the Automotive Industry lobby (VDA) to axe the Frankfurt motor show earlier this year, due to dwindling attendance numbers and public interest.

Pininfarina has revealed its Battista Anniversario with an online unveiling after the hypercar’s Geneva motor show debut was cancelled due to Coronavirus concerns. Decades after the 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA hit the world stage, the monstrous 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and 2020 Giulia GTAm have debuted online to celebrate the marque's 110th birthday. For the uninitiated, the letters GTA represent Gran Turismo Alleggerita (lightened grand tourer), while the 'm' of the extra-special two-seat GTAm stands for Modificata.
