JOURNEY TO THE CROSS
The Lenten season begins February 26, with Ash Wednesday and runs through Easter Sunday, April 12. During these 40 days, Second-Ponce is offering a variety of opportunities to walk closer with Jesus and with each other as we journey to the cross.
On this page, you’ll find information about Lenten season events and resources for discussing this sacred time with your children.

Palm Sunday
Sunday, April 5 | 11 a.m. | Sanctuary
We welcome the arrival of Jesus with a special service on Palm Sunday. Our children will process into the Sanctuary waving palms and we’ll share the Lord’s Supper as a church family.
Holy Wednesday Service
Wednesday, April 8 | 6:15 p.m. | Chapel
Our worship in the Chapel will focus our hearts on the last night of Jesus’ life. Just as the symbol of a cross of ashes helped us to begin the season of Lent in a Wednesday night worship service, the symbol of the Lord’s Supper will be the way that we observe this last Wednesday night in Lent.
Community Good Friday Service
Friday, April 10 | Noon | Wieuca Road Baptist Church
Join with other congregations from the Buckhead area for this annual Good Friday worship service. This year’s Homily will be shared by Dr. Rich Kannwischer, senior pastor of Peachtree Church.
Easter Sunday
Sunday, April 12
Our Lenten journey to the cross comes to an end with the glorious celebration of the resurrection. Please join us for Bible study and worship on Easter Sunday as we rejoice in the fact that life conquers death and hope overcomes despair! We ask each household to bring flowers for placing on our cross that will be on display in our Sanctuary. After worship, we'll gather as a church family at the North Bridge flower cross to enjoy lemonade and fellowship together.
LENTEN RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN
An Illustrated Lent for Families: Reflections on Giving
Starting with Ash Wednesday, An Illustrated Lent for Families: Reflections on Giving includes weekly devotionals, activity pages and coloring pages for families to use together as they journey through Lent.
This paid resource invites families to focus on the different types of giving. Using Jesus’ teaching, children will reflect on why we give, what we give and the power of our gifts. Each week explores a different form of giving and the impact our gifts have on those around us.
