Treasury reverses on tax return requirement for some to get $1,200

Update: The Treasury announced late Thursday that Social Security beneficiaries who typically do not file a tax return will automatically get the $1,200 payment and no longer must submit anything extra.

BREAKING: Treasury now says Social Security recipients who don't normally file tax returns will NOT have to file to get the $1,200 check. Treasury reversed course after pressure from Democrats, some Republicans and media/advocates.
